FabFitFun is looking for a Director of Quality Control to join the Operations team at our West Hollywood HQ in Los Angeles, CA and to manage a team of quality and social accountability professionals in the U.S and China to meet business needs and enable the teams to scale with the business.
What you'll do:
- Lead all efforts and programs around product quality and compliance inclusive of: factory audits, product testing, quality assurance, and social compliance.
- Establish and drive execution of strategic plans, objectives, and internal processes that align with the evolving business.
- Develop and leverage relationships with cross functional partners in Sourcing, Fulfillment Center, Customer Service, Product Integrity and Legal to ensure teams are clear on department direction and reduce duplication of efforts.
- Team will evolve a Brand/Vendor onboarding process that validates manufacturers competence level and exposes gaps. When gaps are identified, customize an oversight program to minimize risk.
- Consult with suppliers on their plans to scale and assist them to understand challenges they will face so they can consider contingencies and understand risk of failure.
- Collaborate with internal partners on quality assurance/control issues and drive resolution. Uncover root causes of quality issues discovered at any point in development, production and/or receipt and formulate a plan of action.
- Report high risk Brands to the organization with recommendation on how to elevate their performance or eliminate from the box.
- Be the lead on the sample approval process ensuring 3rd party providers and in-house quality team has visibility to approved samples before and after production and delivery.
- Work closely with FFF’s Fulfilment Center on in-house inspections and ensure the results align with production in-line and final inspections conducted at the factory.
- Manage relationship and performance of 3rd party providers.
- Lead team responsible for creating and managing a newly created social compliance initiative for the company.
- Work with supporting department leaders in the implementation of social compliance strategies.
- Problem solve and communicate with peers and leadership within the department as well as other business partners to ensure efficient resolution of issues.
- Provide insight and support in creation of tenants of program including position on zero tolerance, corrective action plans, and resolution around compliance issues as they occur.
- Monitor, summarize and make recommendations on interpretation and enforcement of human rights, labor and environmental laws and regulations within specific countries.
- Collaborate with Sourcing, Product Development and other business partners to analyze and manage lists of factories.
- Oversee the design, development, implementation, and management of an inspection and production management program that incorporates factory quality and capacity reviews, production tracking, and an inspection process that is customized for every product.
- Set policy for team visits to new factories to ensure capacity, capability, and repeatable manufacturing process and standards are in place for FabFitFun production.
- Ensure product risk assessment meetings at factories take place, the inspection schedule is set, and defect criteria is monitored throughout production.
What you'll bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, quality, or equivalent degree.
- A minimum of 10 years combined meaningful experience working with manufacturing of consumer products: Home, fitness, electronics, accessories, personal care, beauty, or cosmetics.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing priorities.
- Analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
- Solutions focused, comfortable working in an environment which demands strong deliverables including the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions.
- Develop impactful, collaborative relationships with team members, senior/executive leaders, and partner functions including Merchandise, Finance, and Legal
- Strong internal and external customer focus.
- High level of knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environment.
- High degree of emotional intelligence and empathy; able to build relationships with different cultures from around the world.
- Ability to create strategic plans and execute them.
