Director, Monetization
The Director of Monetization is a critical role on System1’s Social Publishing team that will drive our monetization strategy and direct a roadmap for yield optimization opportunities . A successful candidate will have extensive experience in the display advertising business - understanding the mechanics of the ecosystem & having visibility and an opinion on emerging opportunities - as well as established relationships with existing and potential partners. The role will be based in our Venice, CA office, and will work frequently with our media buyers and analytics team in our Seattle, WA office.
The Role You Will Have
- Monetization Strategy
- Own and execute a strategy that navigates the drivers of supply, demand, and ad placement to drive our revenue strategy, including ad format and partner mix; inventory segmentation and pricing; on-page optimization; ad product and tech advancement initiatives
- Ideate and source new revenue opportunities that not display specific (lead gen, affiliate, e-commerce, etc.)
- Partner Development & Growth
- Own and manage relationship with advertising partners, including identifying opportunities for growth with existing partners, and sourcing new partners that fill gabs and enhance our advertising "stack"
- Explore private marketplace opportunities
- Ad Operations Management
- Lead and manage internal and external resources that power our ad operations, including ad trafficking, sales material creation and reporting
What You Will Bring
- Desire to own and drive the monetization strategy for our large publishing business
- Proficiency with ad monetization platforms (i.e. AppNexus, DFP, AdX, Rubicon, Google Ad Manager, Prebid)
- 7+ years of related experience, specifically in display advertising is a plus
- Analytical mindset and business insight; hands-on experience in online advertising pricing and/or yield management is a plus
- BA/BS in business, communication, or another relevant field
