THE ROLE

The Director, Ecommerce role is a unique opportunity to create and grow a category-defining brand that comes alive through our e-commerce channel. You will have a chance to make a direct impact on conversion, funnel efficiency, product storytelling, and brand experience. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the successful person in this role will build and optimize a cutting-edge, high-performing shopping experience that is both exciting to the modern consumer and also drives engagement and revenue.


This role will leverage quantitative and qualitative data, including site analytics, user data, and predictive analytics to inform CRO, SEO, site merchandising and web content strategies. This role will deliver insights and business recommendations to key stakeholders on the Engineering and Product teams to drive growth and optimization.


Given the stage of Outer and the ever-evolving business strategy and needs of the company, this role will change over time. New and exciting opportunities arise every day and the person in this role will embrace and be motivated by that flexibility.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Develop an e-commerce strategy to support the goals of improving conversion and the shopping experience for consumers
  • Set e-commerce OKRs and KPIs, and define differentiators, attributes, and pillars that support company-wide goals
  • Conversion Rate Optimization: Increase the percentage of conversions on our website (desktop and mobile experiences) including but not limited to: Session>Purchase, Session>Lead, Session>A2C, A2C>Purchase
  • Search Engine Optimization: improve the quality and quantity of website traffic to liveouter.com from search engines, primarily Google
  • Work with an external agency and internal stakeholders to implement technical requirements as well as produce onsite content to support organic growth efforts
  • Site Merchandising: Display and prioritize products on liveouter.com with the goal of increasing sales
  • Analyze online KPIs/performance metrics to identify customer behavior and optimize online store experience
  • Product exposure and placement Content mix
  • Monitor customer site searches, page analytics, and funnel flow to ensure relevancy of search results, taxonomy, and navigation
  • Create and maintain product categories and establish bundling and up-sell strategies to increase AOV
  • Maintain the quality and integrity of the website through pre/post-launch testing of new products, features and on-site promotions
  • This role will take responsibility and ownership for the e-commerce experience at large and all site-related initiatives. 
  • Present deep-dive analysis on consumer behavior and new features to executive team and Product team, including UX/UI designers
  • Manage the legal and compliance aspects of Outer's eCommerce experience--Website accessibility
  • Drive outcomes for customer subsets such as Trade and Commercial customers
  • Assistance with internationalization and localization efforts
  • Outer is looking to develop a nationally-recognized brand that is known for innovation, quality, community, and specifically for redefining material science for consumer goods; this should be communicated through the e-commerce experience. 

EXPECTED RESULTS

  • Improve Session>Purchase CVR
  • Deliver site merchandising and online feature strategy to Product Team that improves the shopping experience based on data analyses
  • Partner with acquisition to create 360 stories that span organic and paid channels
  • Manage others well and exhibit authentic leadership; manage expectations with key stakeholders and executive team
  • Help hire A-players for the team: Source, select, and sell A-players to join the company

WHAT YOU’LL BRING ON DAY 1

  • 8-12 years of experience Successful track-record in building direct-to-consumer or consumer-facing-retailer businesses
  • Experience driving cross-functional collaboration between marketing, product, engineering, sales, and operations
  • Deep experience using modern data tools (e.g. Amplitude, FullStory, Google Analytics, Looker, etc.)
  • A deep understanding of modern eCommerce technologies including but not limited to: Shopify, Headless eCommerce, Content Management Systems (e.g. Contentful)
