Commercial Managing Director

Our mission is to deliver low-cost renewable energy in the form of heat, power or hydrogen fuel – whenever it’s needed, however it’s needed. We are looking for a talented professional to join our team as a Commercial Managing Director (m/f/d) of our subsidiary in Germany.
As our Commercial Managing Director, you will oversee and manage all administrative areas such as Finance, Legal, HR and partner with the existing Technical Managing Director and the Heliogen executive team to direct and control the business operations of a small team of 10 technical professionals.
- Partner together with the existing Technical Managing Director for the management of the office
- Financial control: budget, forecast and align business needs with control of operating expenses
- Evaluate and approve budget requests and make investment or cost reduction decisions
- Give guidance and direction to the existing Technical Managing Director and the Heliogen executive team to manage our projects
- Coordinate with Heliogen’s Finance group to ensure timely delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of the subsidiary’s results, including supporting requests by external tax and accounting professionals
- Partner with the Legal team and external lawyers to ensure legal compliance in all aspects, manage required legal documents and oversee the resolution of any legal disputes
- Help identify the company’s human resources needs including training and supporting the team as well as conducting regular performance appraisals
- Assist in integrating our German subsidiary with Heliogen’s systems, IT and policies and define and successfully implement new company policies
What's Essential:
- 5-7 years of management and leadership experience
- Cross-functional collaboration experience – able to work with different functions effectively and for overall benefit to the business
- Good financial understanding and ability to read and analyze income statements and balance sheets
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
- Fluent in both German and English
- Must reside in Germany and be well acquainted with German business culture, with the ability to regularly commute to the office in Offenburg
- Availability to start quickly is preferred
