The Associate General Manger of the Production Division assists the General Manager in leading an organization of engineers providing technical and acquisition expertise along with critical recommendations to the Space Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Production Corps customer to achieve mission success across a large portfolio of space, ground, and user segments.  The Production Corps focuses on delivering warfighter capabilities across multiple mission areas including overhead persistent infrared (OPIR), positioning navigation and timing (PNT), strategic, protected, wideband, and narrowband military communications, and space-based environmental monitoring (SBEM).  Responsibilities include working directly with senior SMC leadership to advise and collaborate in areas of space, ground, and user system acquisition development, assembly, integration, and test, and launch / initialization. Additional responsibilities include collaborating across multiple Corps in support of resiliency initiatives, technology on-ramp strategies, hosted payload opportunities, and production efficiency initiatives.  In addition to direct customer support, the Associate General Manager will assist the General Manager in establishing the technical operating plans, managing STE allocation and funding, overseeing the quality of technical products, strategic planning, goals and objective setting, maintaining an integrated risk posture for each program, tracking external developments that may impact the mission area, staff recruitment and development, and building and enabling integrated teams to solve the customers’ hardest problems

 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assist the General Manager in developing the division objectives and strategy consistent with the corporate goals, Space Systems Group strategic plan, customer expectations, and provide direction and planning for achieving strategic goals

  • Anticipate the customer’s future needs, set the vision, and create an agile work force that can respond

  • Drive and facilitate cross-corps customer coordination as well as across the Aerospace enterprise for collaboration on resiliency initiatives, hosted payload opportunities, and strategies for implementation of on-ramping technology enhancements

  • Maintain division focus on mission success from cradle to grave across the portfolio, track and communicate the risk posture, and facilitate enterprise teams as appropriate to provide viable solutions to mitigate mission risk

  • Support the development, implementation, and execution of program acquisition strategies

  • Assist the General Manager in developing the technical operating plans, budget control, staffing, succession planning, workforce needs, personnel development, customer interaction, and technical positions

  • Position Aerospace in the highest value functions across the portfolio, translate customer technical operating plans into technical priorities, manage budget constraints, plan and execute staffing as required

  • Track, understand, and advocate for the capabilities within Production Division

  • Actively participate in customer senior decision forums across the portfolio

  • Ensure staff is positioned to leverage the full extent of the Aerospace enterprise capabilities in solving the customer’s hardest problems across the portfolio

  • Ensure timely support of staff to plan and execute launch campaigns and fielding new and incremental capabilities

  • Ensure timely anomaly resolution, on orbit calibration, and initialization functions

  • Assist the General Manager in defining the organization structure, guide staffing, develop and grow the management team

  • Provide leadership for setting goals and direction, mentoring, providing critical feedback, and coaching aimed at developing an agile technical staff and staff development

 

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience with space systems acquisition

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, mathematics or an appropriate technical discipline

  • Demonstrated management skills across budget, staff development, planning, and customer accounts

  • Demonstrated ability to lead integrated multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills for interactions at all levels

  • Strong customer communication skills required to effectively engage customers and build a beneficial relationship

  • Demonstrated organizational agility, cross-program collaboration / sharing

  • Ability to work across Corps / Aerospace organizations and influence outcomes utilizing objective facts

  • Ability to make time-critical mission success decisions with ambiguous or incomplete data

  • Executive leadership and strategic planning skills

  • Occasional travel required

  • This position requires a current secret security clearance and an ability to obtain TS/SCI.  U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
