Aerospace is seeking astrategic,innovative,and drivensenior leaderfor the Capability and Plans Portfoliowithin the Space Systems Architect Division.
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for leadingandmanagingAerospace effortsin support of,and advisingsenior customer leadership of,theCapability Integration, Planning, and Developmentdivision(SSC/ZAC)within theSpace Systems Command(SSC)Space Systems Architect(ZA).
The work program includesarchitecture developmentacrossmission-focusedcapability areaswithintheDoD space enterprise;road-mapping the development, acquisition,and delivery of these capabilitiesin a manner thatleverages andenhancesenterprise capabilities;planning foradoption ofinnovationsfromindustry and government,and guidinginvestments inscience, technology, demonstrations and prototypes;collecting andpromulgatingSSCprogrammaticresourceneeds;andensuring integrationand transition to operationsfor the constituent elements of this architecture.
This position requires strong collaboration across SSC, Space Development Agency (SDA), Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO) and withother acquisition, force design and requirementsagenciesto evaluateandleveragenew concepts,alternativearchitecturesand approaches,enterprise solutions,resiliency initiatives, requirements, and technology investments.The selected candidate will be expected to provide proactive support to the customer and cultivate productive working relationships in a fast-paced multi-organizational and multi-contractor environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and managing Aerospace support to SSC/ZAC(Capability Integration, Planning and Development), includingremote personnel
- Guiding and enabling the sub-divisionsand directoratesas they execute their workprograms
- Building and sustaining a diverse and highly capable workforce through hiring, staff performance reviews, career development, and mentoring
- Setting organizational and guiding individual goals and direction, monitoringprogressand providing feedback for staff development
- Providing proactive support to customers to identify high value work for the sub-division, translating customer requests into technical priorities and planning and managing the team accordingly
- Recommending budgets, allocating resources, establishingprioritiesand ensuring execution to plans and commitments.
- Partneringwith the SSC/ZAC leadership teamwith a focus on future architectural concepts, technology development, innovation, and acquisition/resource planningfor Missile Warning;Environmental Monitoring;Tactical ISR;Space Domain Awareness; Space Superiority;Position, Navigation, and Timing; SatelliteCommunications; Spectrum Warfare;Battle Management;and Nuclear C2
- Providingsenior technical guidance within teams of Government, Aerospace, support contractors, and other FFRDC personnel to monitor mission area efforts, identify technical and performance integration risks, and develop strategic roadmaps,
- Advisingon acquisition strategiesandprogram decisionsaffectingfuture architecturesand operational integration to ensuresuccessful delivery of warfighting capabilitythat increasingly leverage enterprise solutions for improved efficiency and interoperability
- Driving the transformation of Aerospace and customer work programs to a digital engineering future
- Reportingon the organization's activities, progress, and achievements through written and oral reports.
- Moderate level of travel may be required
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 12years of relevant professional engineering/scientific experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science,mathematicsor an appropriate technical discipline
- Strong customer communication skills required to effectively engage customers and build a beneficial relationship
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams with agility and collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to make time-critical mission success decisions with ambiguous or incomplete data
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of external trends and can quickly identify the implications to inform or evolve a business strategy
- Broad experience across a variety of space disciplines such as space acquisition, systems of systems engineering or space (or similar) architecture design
- Active top-secret/SCI clearance and ability to be granted SAP clearances, which are issued by the U.S. Government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
