DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Food & Beverage at Aquarium of the Pacific
REPORTS TO: Director of Culinary
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt; Part-time

COMPENSATION RANGE: $30 - $35 per hour

Summary

The part-time Food & Beverage Operations Supervisor is responsible for providing high-quality customer service during daily operations, special events, and other assigned functions. This position supports operational excellence, guest satisfaction, accurate transaction processing, inventory control, food safety, and the effective supervision of Food & Beverage employees.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Supervise Food & Beverage employees in the preparation and service of food and refreshments, as well as opening, closing, and cleanup procedures.
  • Assist with the training and development of employees engaged in food preparation, cooking, service, and related Food & Beverage functions to ensure high-quality, efficient, and profitable operations.
  • Supervise the storage, preparation, presentation, and service of food and refreshments.
  • Assign employees to designated work locations and operational areas based on business needs.
  • Tabulate receipts, review transactions, and assist with balancing accounts.
  • Assist the Director of Culinary with assigned food service locations and other Food & Beverage operations throughout the facility.
  • Participate in planning operational requirements for Food & Beverage sales and service locations.
  • Enforce established standards related to service quality, food and beverage products, sanitation, food safety, cash-handling procedures, alcoholic beverage regulations, inventory security, company policies, and applicable rules and regulations.
  • Communicate daily operational and event information to Food & Beverage employees.
  • Supervise assigned Food & Beverage locations and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Coordinate requisitions for food, beverage, and operational supplies based on anticipated demand, attendance, and business needs.
  • Inventory supplies and products on hand at the end of each shift, day, event, or other designated period.
  • Complete required operational, inventory, and stand documentation at the conclusion of each shift or event.
  • Monitor sales activity and inventory through the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Prepare, review, and audit daily employee timesheets and submit required documentation to the Director of Culinary.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise the storage, preparation, presentation, and service of food and refreshments by assigned employees.
  • Directly supervise employees assigned to Food & Beverage operations.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legends policies, applicable laws, and established operating procedures.
  • Provide direction and oversight for approximately 3–35 employees per shift, depending on operational requirements.
  • Assist with cleaning, custodial, sanitation, and general operational responsibilities within assigned Food & Beverage areas.
  • Support employee performance, training, accountability, and adherence to established service and safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in concessions, food service, hospitality, or a related Food & Beverage environment.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize new software, technology, and operational programs as needed.
  • Current California Food Handler Certificate.
  • Current TIPS certification, as required.
  • LEAD training through the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise employees effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Abilities
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and guest-service-oriented attitude at all times.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling practices.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, policies, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to operate and support all applicable point-of-sale systems and Food & Beverage sales locations.
  • Maintain appropriate grooming, uniform, and dress-code standards.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic with an emphasis on urgency, quality, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with employees, leadership, and other departments throughout the facility.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and successfully complete multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Other Qualifications

Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, special events, and other hours outside of normal business operations.
