Radiant is an El-Segundo, CA-based clean energy startup building a nuclear microreactor. A climate-friendly alternative to diesel generators, Radiant's Kaleidos 1MW microreactor will be the world's first portable, zero-emissions power source that works anywhere. We plan to test our development reactor by 2026 and if successful, it will be the first new commercial reactor design to achieve a fueled test in over 50 years. Radiant's goal is to bring one of the world's first factory-constructed microreactors to market. Our microreactor can bring power to remote parts of the world and provide backup power for life-saving applications in hospitals or disaster-relief scenarios.

Operations Manager
The Operations team tackles a wide variety of challenges, ranging from high-level strategy to nitty-gritty operational details, and no problem is too big or too small. We manage Radiant’s R&D facility, support projects for Radiant’s first customers, execute events and technology demonstrations (i.e. the Passive Cooldown Demonstration), and are building the world’s first nuclear reactor factory.

Radiant is seeking an analytical and resourceful Operations Manager to support a wide range of cross-functional projects. You will work closely with corporate functions - such as Government Affairs, Business Development, and Marketing - to ensure we are delivering on our high-level business priorities, and with our Engineering teams to improve our design and build processes. The ideal candidate possesses a strong ability to drive results independently, is comfortable managing competing priorities, communicates clearly, and is driven to help us build our first nuclear reactor.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Strategize: understand the needs of our partners, internal and external. Prioritize those needs, pull in supporting resources, and develop solutions.
  • Operate: independently drive execution. Recognize when to implement a quick fix and when to dive into the details. Create new processes and improve existing ones. Monitor performance.
  • Build: identify new opportunities. Own projects from ideation through execution. Identify gaps in our organization and fill them.
  • Analyze: solve problems from first principles. Leverage data, reports, and industry expertise. Disambiguate.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven track record of independent project execution.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience at a fast-paced, high-growth startup
  • Experience at a hardware company, particularly within nuclear
  • Familiarity with operations in highly regulated industries

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission.
  • Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.

Employee Benefits for Eligible Employees:

  • Stock: Substantial incentive stock plan for all full time, salaried employees.
  • Medical: 100% up to base silver level plan for employee + 50% dependents, offers up to Platinum plans.
  • One Medical: Sponsored memberships for employees and their dependents.
  • Vision: 100% top tier plan coverage + 50% for dependents.
  • Dental: 100% top tier plan coverage, orthodontia extra, 50% for dependents.
  • Voluntary Life, Accident, Hospital, Critical Illness, Commuter and FSA are offered as employee contributed benefits.
  • Free snacks and drinks onsite.
  • Flexible PTO policy.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time. This position involves access to technology that is subject to U.S. export controls. Any job offer made will be contingent upon the applicant’s capacity to serve in compliance with U.S. export controls.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
