About Sift

Sift is the data infrastructure platform for hardware engineering teams. Sift turns high-frequency telemetry into engineering insights for mission-critical systems. Teams use Sift to build and operate rockets, satellites, autonomous vehicles, energy systems, defense platforms, and more.
Founded by former SpaceX engineers who built the tools behind Dragon and Starlink, Sift is building the data infrastructure to herald the AI era for physical systems.

About the Role
Sift's Marina del Rey headquarters is home to ~50 people and central to how the team works. This is a high-ownership role: you'll own the day-to-day operation of the office and design the experience of working here. The focus will range from managing facilities and vendors to food, beverage, and events. As the team grows, you'll have the opportunity to keep raising the bar on the space and the programs behind it and help open new offices as needed. You'll also support our smaller San Francisco office remotely, with occasional travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the day-to-day operation of the Marina del Rey office and serve as the go-to person for everything from lights, power, and security to HVAC, cleaning, trash, and plant service

  • Manage the building and landlord relationship, including scheduling, COI requirements, and employee and visitor parking at Marina Business Complex

  • Select, onboard, and manage the full vendor and service-provider ecosystem, holding vendors to a high standard

  • Own all food and beverage programs: meal service (Cook Unity, Forkable/Fooda), keg and cold brew (KegJoy), snack and fridge stocking, and Instacart restocking for kitchen and office supplies

  • Coordinate ad hoc catering for team lunches, celebrations, and events

  • Keep conference rooms ready and functional, including A/V setup and the Google Calendar-integrated room booking system

  • Run furniture installs, space upgrades, contractor coordination, and ongoing space planning as headcount grows

  • Handle seating assignments and desk setup for new hires and collab-week visitors

  • Plan and execute office events, including company celebrations, happy hours, offsites, and quarterly collab weeks

  • Manage swag inventory and new-hire onboarding gifts

  • Support the San Francisco office remotely by coordinating ordering and deliveries, managing shipments between offices, and traveling up periodically to help on-site

  • Maintain deliveries, vendor access, and kitchen and common-area upkeep running smoothly between cleaning visits

Required Skills:

  • Experience running an office day-to-day as the primary owner, not just supporting one

  • 2+ years’ experience as an office manager or senior operations coordinator at a company of 30-100+ people

  • Proven experience owning a full vendor and service-provider ecosystem, not just supply ordering

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance recurring programs with one-off projects

  • Proactive and solutions-oriented: you notice what needs fixing before someone has to ask

  • Comfortable managing the building and landlord relationship, including navigating complex dynamics diplomatically

  • Comfortable supporting a second office remotely, with occasional travel to San Francisco

  • LA-based and able to be on-site at our Marina del Rey office most weekdays

Bonus Points:

  • Experience opening a new office from scratch, playing a central role in scaling one, or coordinating a full office move

  • Running a food and beverage program (meal service, keg/beverage systems) for 40+ people

  • Prior experience at a company that hosted collab weeks or coordinated across multiple offices

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace for room booking administration

Location:

Sift’s headquarters is in Marina Del Rey, CA (Next to LAX). We expect this role to be in person 5 days a week. We are open to relocating candidates to LA.

Salary range: $70,000 - $120,000 per year. Plus equity and benefits.

Eligibility:

U.S. Person Required: Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual such as an asylee or refugee in compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) / EAR (Export Administration Regulations) regulations.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
