Join our critical Network Infrastructure Engineering team

Our Network Infrastructure Engineering Team takes ownership of planning, building, maintaining and operating our global platform. We design, develop, deploy, and maintain critical technologies. This includes the hardware, software, and network infrastructure that provide the technical underpinnings for all of Akamai's products. Our team ensures consistent availability and performance for our customers.

Partner with the best

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will design and deploy secure server clusters, diagnose hardware and network connectivity problems, facilitate critical infrastructure repairs, and manage Akamai's hardware assets. You will be coordinating efforts among teams of locally-based field technicians and work closely with external partners and internal cross-functional teams to ensure the service we deliver is exceptional.

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Partnering across teams to ensure the reliability, scalability and usability of our products and services
  • Traveling regularly to datacenters to receive, deliver, install, and maintain hardware assets, ensuring optimal functionality and compliance with standards
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and monitoring network connectivity issues at Layer 1, 2 and 3.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams during execution to provide end-to-end support for deployment projects, network installations, and maintenance
  • Working closely with field technicians, ISPs and Akamai partners, and 3rd party client vendors for installation, maintenance, and fulfillment of Akamai Network Infrastructure
  • Monitoring, triage, and resolution of incoming maintenance tickets, ensuring adherence to SLA targets
  • Maintaining and exceeding high SLA targets, ensuring robust system uptime and performance
  • Lifting at least 50 pounds of equipment

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Have experience with Datacenter operations and protocols, network technologies, Security concepts, Unix/Linux internals, distributed systems, and systems design
  • Possess solid organizational skills with proven experience in scheduling and operational planning
  • Demonstrate an ability to work efficiently under strict time constraints, adhering to all procedural guidelines
  • Be willing to travel up to 60% domestically within the U.S.
  • Be required to undergo or possess and maintain a successfully adjudicated USG Tier 3 background investigation

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $65,700 - $118,300/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
