Company Description

We are a fast-paced, growing organization currently relying heavily on spreadsheets due to limitations in our NetSuite setup. Our goal is to build scalable reporting and automation within NetSuite, aligning Sales, Finance, and Operations through standardized, system-native processes.

We're seeking a NetSuite Developer with strong experience in SuiteAnalytics and SuiteScript, who can help us establish a clean, reportable data layer and improve data accuracy across key objects like Opportunities, Projects, and Sales Orders. Note: We are using the standard Projects functionality available in core NetSuite (not the Advanced Projects module or SuiteProjects).

Job Description

Scope of Work

1. Data Model & Analytics

- Build SuiteAnalytics datasets and workbooks to support: - Forecast vs. Actual revenue and margin tracking - Weekly Rep-level performance dashboards - Opportunity → Project → Sales Order → Invoice data flow visibility - Design reusable data structures for analytics — enabling easy pivoting and trend comparisons. - Work with stakeholders to define key metrics and layout for standardized reports.

2. Custom Fields & Configuration

- Add custom fields (e.g., Forecast) at Project and Opportunity level. - Configure field-level rules and validations to enforce consistency (e.g., placeholder FG logic). - Establish clean item subtype usage across opportunities, sales orders, and projects.

3. Automation & Scripting

- Develop SuiteScripts (1.0/2.x) for: - Scheduled exports of analytical datasets (CSV/XLS/API) - Automated flagging of duplicates, missing FG placeholders, or invalid entries - Data validation (e.g., checking that every open opportunity has forecast and FG item)

4. User Workflow Optimization

- Improve experience for PMs and Reps entering forecast or placeholder items. - Ensure field visibility and role access is clean and intuitive.

Qualifications

Qualifications

- Strong experience with NetSuite SuiteAnalytics Workbooks and Datasets - Proven background in SuiteScript (1.0 or 2.x) development - Solid understanding of Opportunity, Project (Core), Item, and Sales Order flows - Experience designing custom fields, validation scripts, and user workflows - Ability to translate business requirements into technical implementation - Nice to Have (for future projects): - Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau) - Experience integrating NetSuite with Monday.com

Deliverables

- SuiteAnalytics datasets/workbooks for project and rep-level reporting - Custom Forecast field + validation logic - Scripts for data cleanup or scheduled exports - Streamlined user workflows with minimal friction for PMs and Reps - Light documentation or handoff notes

Rate:  $90-$125 per hour.  This is a project based contractor role.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
