Responsible for prospecting and closing new account business within the assigned geographies. Focus will be on regional and national restaurant chain concepts as well as some hospitality concepts such as casinos, theme parks and theaters. Prospects should generally cross more than one DC. Embrace and support the team’s sales methodology. Exceed your revenue, case and profit objectives.

Flexible Work Policy: The work for the National Business Development Director position is completely remote anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories.  This position may require up to 50% travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Promoting and selling products, services and solutions to potential customers.
  • Produce new account revenue in line with current organization and individual targets and quotas ($40 million annually).
  • Identify and prospect key targets and gain alignment with the Region and Area Presidents.
  • Build proposals leveraging other functional teams (logistics, revenue management, merchandising), gain business approvals, propose to customer and lead negotiations to drive successful closes.
  • Embrace team selling.
  • Identify and drive organizational alignment and resources to support value proposition and closing sales to include ROCs, Finance, Operations, Merchandising and Logistics.
  • Drive the adoption and implementation of SOUS (Salesforce CRM).  Track and monitor pipeline and Business Developments effectiveness in moving customers though the sales cycle.
  • Attend training and embrace the sales process and selling techniques, including documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor and evaluate sales training programs, assess results and recommend enhancements as needed to ensure effectiveness of programs and delivery of revenue and profit objectives.
  • Frequent overnight travel required, up to 50%.

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal:       Direct contact with senior level staff and sales associates throughout the organization.

External:      Executive level of potential customers.

                  

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training:  Bachelors degree in related field OR equivalent work experience required.

Related Experience:  Minimum 10 years of success in selling new accounts, preferably in foodservice industry within the region.  Must have prior demonstrated success in regional or national multi-location new business development sales. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to successfully build relationships internally and externally.  Must have the ability to leverage relations to achieve business goals and work in a matrix environment.  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as organizational skills and strong follow through.  Ability to work under pressure meeting deadlines.  Ability to closely follow a consistent sales methodology, as well as a personal track record for closing sales. 

This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds).  The expected base rate for this role is between

$110,000 - $180,000
