Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE:AMRC) is a leading energy solutions provider dedicated to helping customers reduce costs, enhance resilience, and decarbonize to net zero in the global energy transition. We are a trusted, full-service partner to public sector and government entities, K-12 schools, higher education, utilities, and healthcare customers across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Europe.

At Ameresco, we show the way by developing, constructing and operating tailored smart energy efficiency solutions, distributed energy resources, and infrastructure upgrades that drive cost savings, resilience, decarbonization, and innovation. Our comprehensive portfolio is built to address the challenges of today and adapt the future, ensuring long-term sustainability and success for our customers.

Ameresco has an immediate opening for a Multisite Energy Management Systems (EMS) Specialist to join our team supporting a major multisite EMS project for military housing installations. This role blends deep technical expertise in cellular networking, Wi-Fi deployment, HVAC controls, and building energy management systems with vendor coordination and operational oversight — operating at the intersection of network engineering, controls integration, and field operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the setup, configuration, and ongoing management of Verizon cellular backhaul networks, including account provisioning, performance monitoring, bandwidth optimization, and minimization of offline devices using platforms such as ThingSpace.
  • Oversee the specification, provisioning, deployment, security configuration, and monitoring of InHand routers and in-home Wi-Fi networks, including development of standard processes for installation and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with HVAC controls partners on the enhancement and deployment of frontend interfaces, mobile applications, Yardi integration, and automated vacant home reprogramming capabilities; support testing, validation, and rollout of these improvements.
  • Coordinate with installation and maintenance partners to ensure EMS equipment is installed and maintained according to specifications, providing technical training, remote and onsite support, troubleshooting of offline devices, and reprogramming support.
  • Deliver limited technical consulting support to customer IT teams on Yardi integration, alarm management, vacant home automation, and business intelligence/reporting solutions.
  • Monitor communications infrastructure integrity and performance; utilize diagnostic tools to identify and remediate network issues, interference, and data usage anomalies.
  • Support overall project execution including development, testing, and operation of the EMS technical solution.
  • Identify and train customer and partner personnel on relevant network management, controls, and monitoring applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Energy Systems, or related STEM field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in building energy management systems (EMS/BMS), IoT/cellular networking, HVAC controls, or related technical field.
  • Travel Required (frequent travel to military installations). (40%)
  • Must be eligible for and capable of gaining entry to U.S. military installations.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with cellular IoT networks, router provisioning (e.g., InHand or similar), Wi-Fi deployment, and device management platforms.
  • Hands-on knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls, and integration with property management software such as Yardi.
  • Familiarity with Verizon ThingSpace, MyBusiness, or equivalent IoT management tools, including AI-driven rules, alerts, and analytics.
  • Prior experience providing technical training and support to installation teams and customer stakeholders.
  • Strong project coordination skills with multiple vendors and partners.
  • Working knowledge of network security protocols, RF diagnostics, and bandwidth management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • CEM or similar energy certification, networking certifications (e.g., CCNA), or BAS-specific training a plus.
  • Military/government project or DoD installation experience is highly desirable.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $80,900 – $128,750 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.

Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.

We disclose salary ranges and benefits in all required external and internal postings and will provide further details upon request at any stage of the hiring process. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
