Reporting to the Lead Unity Developer, you'll use modern AI development tools alongside your technical expertise to implement game features, prototype ideas rapidly, solve complex engineering problems, and continuously improve development velocity.

This role spans the entire game development lifecycle, from rapid prototyping to live operations. Success requires strong Unity fundamentals, excellent engineering judgment, and the ability to use AI as a force multiplier while maintaining high standards for code quality, performance, and player experience.

This position can be remote or based at our state-of-the-art offices in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Develop and implement mobile games in Unity for iOS and Android.
  • Use AI-powered development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, refactoring, documentation, testing, and prototyping while maintaining production-quality standards.
  • Collaborate with designers, producers, artists, backend engineers, and QA to deliver polished player experiences.
  • Write clean, scalable, maintainable C# code and validate AI-generated code before production use.
  • Rapidly prototype gameplay mechanics and iterate based on team feedback.
  • Optimize performance across a wide range of mobile devices using Unity profiling tools.
  • Debug complex gameplay, networking, memory, and platform-specific issues.
  • Implement gameplay systems, UI, animations, VFX, audio, and live operations features.
  • Contribute to CI/CD, build automation, and deployment pipelines.
  • Review code, improve engineering standards, and contribute to reusable systems and internal tools.
  • Continuously evaluate new AI tools and workflows that improve team productivity.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning and daily standups.
What We’re Looking For

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Interactive Media, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years developing mobile games with Unity.
  • At least 2 shipped mobile game titles.
  • Excellent C# programming skills.
  • Strong understanding of Unity architecture, UI Toolkit/uGUI, prefabs, asset management, animation, audio, and scene management.
  • Experience building both 2D and 3D mobile games.
  • Experience optimizing CPU, GPU, memory, and battery performance.
  • Experience with REST APIs, WebSockets, or multiplayer networking.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in Agile teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
AI-First Development

We expect our engineers to use AI as part of their daily workflow. You should:

  • Be comfortable using AI coding assistants (such as Unity AI, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar).
  • Know how to write effective prompts for technical tasks.
  • Critically review, validate, test, and improve AI-generated code rather than accepting it blindly.
  • Use AI to accelerate debugging, documentation, testing, refactoring, and code generation.
  • Continuously experiment with new AI workflows that improve development speed without compromising quality.
  • Understand the limitations, risks, and security considerations of AI-assisted software development.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
