A Day in the LifeSeeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a QC Microbiology I at the Northridge Minimed Facility. You will work with the QA/QC team in supporting our efforts in this exciting new era at Minimed Medical Devices. This position provides microbiological testing support for commercial manufactured products, responsible for product testing, microbial growth promotion testing, utility testing, and quality systems support.
This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.

Must Have:

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires a Baccalaureate degree and 1-2 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have:

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform environmental monitoring of cleanrooms, if needed.

  • Test water samples and ensure all sample collected per schedule and tested on time

  • Perform and review microbiological assays such as Gram Stain, Endotoxin, Sterility, Microbial Identification, Growth Promotion, Bioburden and Plate Reading

  • Data entry and trend data as needed and prepare slides for management

  • Assist in investigations regarding out of specifications (OOS) results, address and manage deviations related to micro procedures.

  •  Analyzes chemical, biological or microbiological products, raw materials, in-process materials, release test samples or stability samples in support of the company's quality program.

  • Prepares, cleans, disinfects, and/or sterilizes instruments, materials, products, and/or supplies.

  • Follows protocols and regulations in order to clean, store, and/or deliver products, supplies, and/or instruments.

  • Routine maintenance of lab equipment and lab spaces

  • Review and approve all final product release test results

  • Perform other duties as required

  • Interprets and evaluates the analyses in terms of accuracy and precision compared against established specifications and recommends and implements corrective action where necessary.

  • Applies existing techniques and procedures with recommendations and implementation of modification for improved efficiency, or devises and develops new analytical methods and techniques.

  • Performs qualitative tests or quantitative assays on samples using techniques that vary from use of standard analytical equipment to highly modern and automated instrumentation.

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$61,600.00 - $92,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others)

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
