About the role

We're looking for a Membership Strategy Senior Manager to help strengthen what makes Crunchyroll membership valuable: why fans join, what keeps them coming back, and how we deliver more value across our growing fan ecosystem.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Membership Strategy within our Chief Strategy Officer organization, you'll lead major strategic workstreams, evaluate membership opportunities, and turn analysis into clear recommendations that inform business decisions. You'll translate membership priorities into actionable plans and work closely with leaders across SVOD Strategy, Commerce, Games, Digital Manga, Product, Finance, and our regional markets to build alignment across the business.

Core Areas of Responsibility
  • Analyze what drives fans to join and stay, assess membership value across our businesses, and develop recommendations to strengthen our offering.
  • Assess membership benefits, tier differentiation, and strategic investments, including opportunities that could shape our membership business over the next five to ten years.
  • Size opportunities, model financial and membership impact, evaluate tradeoffs, and recommend whether and how to test or introduce new benefits.
  • Own major projects from problem definition through analysis and recommendations, developing work plans, frameworks, and processes that keep priorities moving forward.
  • Partner with SVOD Strategy, Commerce, Games, Digital Manga, Finance, and regional leaders to align their strategies and plans with broader membership priorities.
  • Manage cross-functional planning processes and recurring forums, ensuring membership priorities and recommendations are ready to inform business planning and budgeting cycles.
  • Partner with Finance on membership economics and long-term financial models, and provide strategic inputs to Commercial Planning, which owns pricing, tiers, and promotions.
  • Maintain and evolve Crunchyroll's global anime market sizing and fan segmentation frameworks, partnering with Research, Market Intelligence, and Data Analytics to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Present clear, evidence-based recommendations, communicate strategic choices and tradeoffs, and build alignment across senior stakeholders.
  • Lead and review the work of professionals on assigned projects, support senior leadership priorities, and help improve the Strategy team's ways of working.

We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule, with three days each week onsite at our Los Angeles office.

About You
  • 8+ years of experience in strategy, including a background in management consulting, either currently or before transitioning into an in-house corporate strategy role.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive the strategy and success of larger, multi-area projects where problems are not clearly defined and lack strategic direction.
  • Proven ability to design and own work plans, processes, and multi-area workstreams, while guiding the work of experienced professionals.
  • Background in subscription or membership businesses, including value proposition design, benefit evaluation, or tiering.
  • Ability to persuade senior stakeholders across several functional areas in sensitive and complex situations.
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills, including presenting to senior and C-level stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and passion.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly evolving strategies and priorities.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
About the Team

The Strategy team sits within the Chief Strategy Officer organization, with the VP of Strategy reporting directly to the CSO. The team owns Crunchyroll's enterprise strategy, membership strategy, and SVOD strategy, along with the fan, competitor, and market research that grounds them. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
