General Summary:

Under general supervision, Associate performs quality inspections, general service repairs, brake repairs, engine repairs, heating and air condition repairs, 4-wheel alignments, repairs to steering and suspension, safety inspections, and diagnostics resulting from quality opportunities.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities:
  • General repairs, brake repair, engine repairs, heading and air condition repairs, steering and suspension repairs including 4-wheel alignments, and safety inspections and diagnostics resulting from quality opportunities
  • Ensure that all vehicles meet CarMax Mechanical Quality Standards.
  • Drive vehicles to and from various locations as requested by Manager
  • Provide outstanding customer service at all times.
  • Maintain, repair, and clean CarMax provided tools, equipment and spaces.
Job Specifications:
  • Read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.
  • Complete all training as required by position including Kronos Training for Hourly Associates
  • Successfully work with and through associates of other departments within the Store.
  •  Perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced working environment
  • Required to have great attention to detail and have manual dexterity in both arms and hands
  • Speak clearly and listen effectively in dealing with customers/associates, both in person and over the phone.
  • Lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
  • Monitor shop compliance with CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA policies
  • Where required by State/Local law, maintain ASE Certification in Engine Repair (A1), Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7)
Working Conditions:
  • Combination of both indoor and outdoor environment; May include working at times in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions.
  • May require walking or standing for an extended time.
  • Flexible work hours with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must wear CarMax clothing (acquired through the company) at all times while working in the store.

The hourly rate for this position is:

$33.60 - $50.40

Benefits:

Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.

Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:

  • To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company. 
  • For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday.  If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay. 

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
