Procon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a role in the federal sector, specifically in the Los Angeles, CA area. This position requires expertise in mechanical systems design, analysis, and implementation in compliance with local and federal regulations.


Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in federal projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC design, plumbing systems, and fire protection systems.
  • Proficient in the use of engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ANSYS).
  • Experience with energy modeling and building performance analysis is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Capable of interpreting codes and standards relevant to mechanical engineering and construction.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design and analyze mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and specifications for mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to develop comprehensive project plans.
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and provide recommendations for system upgrades or replacements.
  • Review and approve mechanical submittals and shop drawings from contractors.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure that all mechanical work aligns with project schedules and quality standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical systems during construction and after project completion.
  • Assist in the development of project budgets and cost estimates related to mechanical systems.
