Job Summary:  

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of mechanical components and systems. This role is dedicated to concept creation, CAD modeling, simulation, prototyping, and design validation throughout the product lifecycle. The Mechanical Design Engineer transforms requirements into manufacturable, high-performance designs that meet functional, aesthetic, and cost targets. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create design concepts based on product requirements, engineering principles, and user needs. 
  • Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or Fusion 360. 
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups, FEA, motion studies, and design calculations to ensure performance and reliability. 
  • Build and evaluate prototypes using rapid prototyping, machining, or additive manufacturing. 
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, cost, and scalability. 
  • Produce engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and revision-controlled documentation. 
  • Work closely with electrical, firmware, manufacturing, and quality teams to bring designs from concept to production. 
  • Support test planning, fixture design, and root-cause analysis for design issues. 
  • Refine design processes, tools, and standards to improve product quality and development efficiency. 
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations. 
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures. 
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.  
  • Predictable and reliable attendance. 

Requirements

 Position Qualifications: 

  • Education/Learning Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or an equivalent degree. 
  • Work Experience: Minimum three (3) years of professional mechanical design experience. 
  • Skills/Knowledge: 
  • CAD Proficiency in at least one major platform (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, etc.). 
  • Strong understanding of mechanics, materials, GD&T, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Experience with FEA, tolerance analysis, and design verification. 
  • Ability to create production-ready drawings and documentation. 
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing. 
  • Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing. 
  • Knowledge of mechatronics, sensors, or electromechanical systems. 
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printing technologies. 
  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation. 
  • Analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Travel: Ability to travel approximately 20%.

Compensation and Benefits: 

Pay Range:  $95k - 105k (Pay to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data) 

Benefits Offered: Comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage; company-paid basic life/AD&D insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance; voluntary supplemental insurances, flexible spending accounts and employee assistance program (EAP). Sick Leave, Vacation Time, and company-paid Holidays are also provided as paid time off.
