Job Description
At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. We're committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that's welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.
Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Our missions have direct impact to global security, like missile warning and Earth observation.
Our team is curious, bold and innovative. We take risks, innovate and explore new techniques and technologies. We influence change because we challenge the status quo. And when we watch our satellites launch, we know each one of us made it happen.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Material Planner who thrives in a fast-paced, execution-driven satellite manufacturing environment. This role owns material readiness for assigned assemblies from MRP signal to hardware on the floor. You will be expected to understand your assemblies deeply, surface problems before they become schedule impacts, and drive resolution across engineering, procurement, and manufacturing without waiting to be told. This position will sit onsite at our office in El Segundo, CA.
This position's internal job is Supply Chain Management Analyst. Our team is currently hiring for level 1.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Own the full material readiness picture for assigned assemblies, you are the single point of accountability from MRP signal to hardware availability
  • Disposition MRP action messages daily; release MOs, generate PRs, and issue reschedule recommendations with the speed and accuracy the production schedule demands
  • Anticipate shortages before they appear on a report, analyze demand, lead times, and supplier performance proactively and bring solutions, not just problems
  • Drive ECD alignment with Program Schedulers, Manufacturing Engineers, and the buying team; own your dates and defend them with data
  • Validate eBOM-to-mBOM conversions in Costpoint; identify and correct data integrity issues (lead times, yield, attrition, UOM, min/max) that corrupt MRP output before they corrupt the schedule
  • Generate shortage reports, kitting status, and material readiness assessments that are accurate, timely, and stakeholder-ready no chasing, no follow-up needed
  • Communicate material, MO, and PO status to Program Control, IMS Schedulers, Quality, and Manufacturing with clarity
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings; understand how releases migrate from eBOM through Teamcenter into Costpoint and what breaks when that process fails
  • Escalate critical path constraints with supporting data and a recommended course of action, never escalate a problem without a proposed solution
  • Hold cross-functional partners accountable to commitments that affect your programs, this role requires influence without authority, executed with urgency

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Aerospace or Defense industry experience
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Experience reading engineering drawings
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. A final U.S. clearance Post Start is required

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in material planning, supply chain coordination, or production scheduling in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience tracing BOM structures from design intent to production execution
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities under schedule pressure without losing accuracy
  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint, MRP, MO management, and purchasing modules
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter PLM and the eBOM-to-mBOM conversion process
  • Exposure to DCMA MMAS compliance standards or equivalent government material accountability frameworks
  • Experience in satellite, space vehicle, or defense hardware manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or equivalent tools for shortage analysis and reporting

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
