Content Manager
THE PURPOSE:
We are looking for a seasoned content manager with experience creating content in the personal finance category.
You will primarily lead the execution of building out and maintaining a content library around credit cards to help consumers find the right cards for their specific needs. The job also entails being the editorial point person for our sales and BD teams, and work with them on developing content packages they can sell to brands.
As the Content Manager, you will work alongside in-house and freelance editors in a creative capacity, participating in planning and pitch meetings for all editorial verticals the Slickdeals blog covers.
The Content Team’s main objective is to bring new users/audience to Slickdeals via engaging and informative articles surrounding the topics of saving money and/or general shopping trends.
THE ROLE:
- Provide quality assurance and copy editing for articles produced by freelance writers, and occasionally produce original articles yourself.
- Build out and maintain an editorial calendar for personal finance topics, including credit cards, banking, personal loans, student loans, mortgages and insurance.
- Source expert freelance contributors.
- Conduct keyword research for new articles using tools such as SEO Clarity or SEMRush.
- Look at traffic data and analyze performance.
- Meet with the sales team and develop client pitches, plus oversee the content production process for sold packages from start to finish.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
THE CANDIDATE:
- Experienced digital media editor with an expertise in creating engaging original content for consumers in the personal finance category. You show passion for what you do and always strive to provide value to the customer.
- You are solutions-driven, a self-starter and resourceful. You don’t sit around waiting for work to come to you.
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and objectives in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working on client-facing projects and can handle the planning and execution of several projects simultaneously.
- Up to date on best practices for SEO for content. You always do keyword research before you start writing, you target featured snippets as often as possible and you know how to track performance.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Basic HTML knowledge and a background using WordPress as a CMS.
- Four-year college degree in Journalism, Communication or related field.
- Solid understanding of analytics tools such as Adobe or Google Analytics. You know how to look at traffic data and slice it by referrer, date ranges and compare YoY trends.
- Experience working in Excel to dissect and analyze data using pivot tables.
- Familiarity with affiliate marketing.
- Proven track record producing content about credit cards and other personal finance topics.
