Protagona is an AWS Advanced Tier consulting partner helping organizations build with data, AI/ML, and modern cloud. We work with mission-driven nonprofits, healthcare organizations, financial services firms, and fast-growing companies doing some of the most interesting AI work out there.

We’re looking for a marketer who's excited to own the top of funnel. This role is the engine of our demand generation. You’ll shape the strategy, decide where we invest, build the programs, and see your work show up directly in pipeline and closed deals. If you’ve been waiting for a role where your ideas don’t get stuck in approval loops and your impact is easy to see, this is it.You’ll report to our VP of Sales & Marketing, who will be a strategic partner, sounding board, and advocate for your plans.
Expect to travel about 25% of the time for AWS events, customer workshops, and time with our sellers in the field. Must be based in Austin, Dallas, DC, New York, or Philadelphia.

What you’ll do

  • Build the demand gen strategy. Decide which markets and channels will move the needle, and make the case for where we put our time and budget.
  • Drive pipeline. Own marketing’s contribution to the business and watch it grow. You’ll set the plan, track what’s working, and double down on it.
  • Run campaigns that sellers love. Partner with our sales team and AWS counterparts to design multi-channel and account-based programs that put us in front of the right buyers at the right time.
  • Tap into the AWS ecosystem. Work with AWS and our other technology partners on co-marketing, joint events, and funded programs.
  • Tell great stories. Work with our engineers and architects to turn customer outcomes into case studies, one-pagers, and thought leadership that’s sharp, accurate, and on brand.
  • Create events worth attending. Pick and run the webinars, workshops, and in-person moments that build relationships and pipeline.
  • Own the stack. Run our marketing tools - Monday CRM, Apollo, and more.
  • Show the impact. Share what’s working, what you learned, and where you’re taking things next.
  • Travel. On site

You might be a great fit if you

  • Have 5+ years in B2B marketing, ideally in technology or professional services, including time owning demand generation
  • Have carried a pipeline or MQL goal and love talking about how you hit it
  • Thrive at a growing company where you set the direction and also roll up your sleeves to make it happen
  • Are a strong writer who can make cloud, data, and AI concepts compelling to both technical and executive audiences, and you care about getting the details right
  • Know your way around CRM, marketing automation, outbound, and web platforms
  • Bring experience with AWS or other cloud partner marketing programs (a big plus, but we’ll teach you the ropes)
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
