Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is the oldest conservation and recreation organization in the United States. Our mission is simple yet powerful: foster the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the outdoors.

The Marketing Coordinator plays an important role in supporting AMC's annual giving, membership, and direct mail and print marketing programs. Reporting to the Direct Mail and Print Marketing Manager, sitting on the Growth Marketing team, this position helps execute fundraising and membership initiatives through reporting, data and segmentation, project coordination, and print production support.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has strong attention to detail, enjoys working with data, improving operational processes, and collaborating across teams to drive revenue growth.

What You'll Be Doing At AMC

  • Support the execution of annual giving appeals, membership renewal campaigns, and other fundraising and marketing initiatives in direct mail.

  • Assist with print production and mailing logistics for donor appeals, member renewals, Appalachia Journal, Outdoors Magazine, brochures, and other print marketing materials.

  • Build and maintain production schedules for direct mail and print marketing campaigns, tracking milestones and delivery timelines from concept through distribution.

  • Manage project workflows in AirTable and Jira while coordinating with Marketing, Membership, and Content, and other internal stakeholders to ensure campaign assets and deliverables are completed on schedule.

  • Maintain files that measure campaign performance, forecast revenue, and monitor expenses against budget.

  • Use AMC’s CRM database, Salesforce for data hygiene and analysis including measurement tracking, record updates, duplicate removals, and inactive record suppression, list segmentation and solicitation amounts.

  • Gather vendor quotes and support ongoing monitoring of print and postage expenses.

  • Identify repetitive and time-consuming processes and recommend opportunities for improvement.

  • Stay informed on direct marketing best practices, data management standards, and USPS regulations.

  • Participate in AMC events and activities to better understand and engage with AMC's community.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Experience working with spreadsheets and reporting tools, including Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
