The Market Quality & Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring all products placed into domestic and international markets meet regulatory, quality, and corporate compliance requirements. This role leads key initiatives related to label compliance, product traceability, regulatory reporting, and sustainability obligations, while providing critical insights to senior leadership on cost of quality and compliance risk.

This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Job Description

Regulatory & Market Compliance

  • Collaborate with the NPD, marketing and regulatory teams, to comply with importing countries’ labeling requirements.
  • Monitor global regulatory changes impacting bottled water and packaging by establishing a strong working relationship with the regulatory team and conducting market research
  • Maintain a register of all regulatory requirements and approvals for markets served.
  • Support market entry activities by validating compliance readiness.

Traceability & Product Disposition

  • Oversee product disposition processes to ensure full traceability, documentation, and compliance with regulatory and internal audit requirements.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of non-conforming product, including root cause, disposition pathway, and reconciliation of destroyed volumes.
  • Partner with supply chain and third-party providers to validate destruction certificates and audit compliance.

Cost of Quality & Reporting

  • Collate, analyze, and report cost of quality (CoQ) data, including waste, rework, recalls, and non-conformance costs.
  • Prepare executive-level dashboards and insights for Senior Leadership Team (SLT) reporting.
  • Identify trends and cost drivers and recommend improvement initiatives.

Sustainability Programs

  • Manage Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting across applicable markets, ensuring accuracy and adherence to local regulations.
  • Compile and submit data related to packaging volumes, materials, and recycling obligations.
  • Support financial forecasting and reconciliation of fees related to the sustainability programs.
  • Coordinate registrations, certifications, and reporting requirements related to post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic usage.
  • Ensure supplier documentation and traceability for recycled materials meet regulatory and certification requirements (e.g., food-grade compliance).
  • Track and report PCR usage against corporate sustainability targets.

Quality Systems & Governance

  • Maintain and improve quality and compliance management systems aligned with ISO, HACCP, and food safety standards.
  • Support internal and external audits, including regulatory inspections and certification audits.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to compliance activities.

Risk Management & Issue Escalation

  • Identify compliance risks across markets and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
  • Lead or support investigations into compliance breaches, labeling errors, or market complaints.
  • Coordinate recall readiness and mock recall exercises.

Data Management & Digital Systems

  • Data analytics of products received into 3PL warehouses to identify opportunities for improvements and reduction in Cost of Quality.
  • Support digitalization initiatives to improve compliance tracking and reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with regulatory affairs, legal, marketing, supply chain, and sustainability teams to ensure end-to-end compliance.
  • Act as the key point of contact for market compliance issues.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on regulatory and labeling requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline compliance processes and reduce complexity across markets.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional improvement projects.
  • Implement best practices across regions.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • 10% travel

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Food Science, Quality Management, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
  • 8+ years experience in quality, compliance, or regulatory roles within FMCG or beverage industries.
  • Strong knowledge of international labeling and food safety regulations.
  • Experience with EPR, sustainability reporting, and packaging compliance highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, including experience with cost of quality metrics.

Pay Range: $117,000 - $135,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
