JOB SUMMARY: 

Utilizes engineering, lean manufacturing, and variation minimization techniques to develop and implement processes and tooling for the fabrication of parts, finishing and assembly, components, subassemblies, and final products.  Leads manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives.  Verifies that resulting methods meet current ergonomic laws and guidelines.  Develops work instructions, procedures and illustrations.  Estimates manufacturing costs, determines production standards and makes recommendations for tooling and processing requirements.  Actively involved in the purchase of capital equipment.  Works with employees responsible for maintenance, ensures best-practice preventive maintenance is implemented, and ensures processes are available when needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maximizes efficiency, quality, and productivity of existing production lines and processes utilizing value stream mapping techniques and robust engineering principles.
  2. Works with Product Designers to ensure new offerings are designed for manufacturability.
  3. Leads equipment and facility-related projects, including planning, analysis, proposal, execution, and communication.
  4. Develops sequences of operation and work instructions.
  5. Participates in company SMART goal initiatives.
  6. Trains production associates as processes are modified and improved.
  7. Completes ECO/ECN functions as they pertain to changes in the production of products.
  8. Plans and implements the production of new products and processes, as well as modification or expansion to existing ones, into the manufacturing operation to ensure quality products are produced efficiently and safely.
  9. Estimates production costs and develops manufacturing plans for new products or modifications to existing products and/or processes.
  10. Develops and maintains production-related performance metrics.
  11. Determines production capacities and manpower requirements for each department and product family.
  12. Identifies production problems and develops corrections and improvements to shop efficiency.
  13. Audits and corrects, as necessary, the production standards, methods, and parameters.
  14. Works with the maintenance team to ensure processes are reliable and available when needed.
  15. Compiles and evaluates design and test data, prepares technical specifications, and analyzes technical data to determine specifications.
  16. Analyzes, develops, and recommends design approaches required to meet production requirements for new or improved products.
  17. Conducts independent technical investigations related to ergonomic issues.
  18. Reviews reported safety concerns and identifies solutions.  Verifies all processes and procedures are in accordance with OSHA regulations.
Qualifications

Technical Competencies:

  • BS in Manufacturing Engineering, or other applicable field, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of applicable and diversified experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a metal fabrication environment.
  • In depth training and experience/implementation of lean manufacturing initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Experience with Six Sigma, preferably trained at a green or black belt level.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA safety requirements preferred.
  • High aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing facility-related activities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ERP systems.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel domestically 25-50%.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.


Pay Range $90,000 - $98,000/yr
