About TopDog Law

TopDog Law is a modern plaintiff personal injury practice built around people, performance, innovation, and purpose. We combine elite trial advocacy with strong operational leadership, empowering attorneys to deliver exceptional client outcomes while building a firm that scales across markets with consistency and excellence. We are building a national organization, and every state we enter is an opportunity to plant a flag, build a team, and win for injured clients.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a builder, not a caretaker. The Managing Attorney is the business owner of our California market, accountable for performance from the moment a case is signed through final resolution and file closure. This is not a supervisory title; it is a seat with real authority, real accountability, and real upside. The firm supplies the technology, centralized services, intake infrastructure, and regional support. You own the outcome, with significant influence over case strategy, team composition, operational cadence, state culture, and long-term growth.

What You'll Own
  • Own the state P&L: hit fee and case volume goals, align costs with growth, and bring analytical rigor to your pipeline and case mix.
  • Own case outcomes across the full lifecycle, from pre-suit through litigation, trial, settlement, disbursement, and file closure.
  • Lead litigation and trial strategy for your state, personally taking the most complex and highest-value cases to trial when appropriate.
  • Drive settlement performance, working toward resolution within the firm's 60-to-90-day target window.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain attorneys, paralegals, case managers, and support staff, building a culture of accountability and ownership.
  • Execute firm-wide standards and operating cadences while owning the state-specific adaptations that make them work in your market.
  • Ensure full legal, ethical, and compliance oversight across every function in your state.
  • Report to the COO with regular state performance updates and data-driven KPI tracking.
Qualifications
  • Active bar admission in California required at time of hire.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of plaintiff personal injury experience.
  • Extensive experience handling cases from inception through trial and resolution.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong litigation skills, including depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial.
  • Experience handling motor vehicle, premises liability, and personal injury matters.
  • A genuine business mindset, with comfort owning P&L, metrics, and operational accountability.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and market.
  • State performance bonus tied to P&L outcomes, settlement pace, and fee goal achievement.
  • Leadership achievement incentives tied to team development and firm-wide milestones.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, plus 401(k).
  • Paid time off and CLE / professional development reimbursement.
  • Clear advancement pathways within a rapidly expanding national organization.

This is not a management title. It is an ownership seat. Attorneys who lead here build something, own it, grow it, and share in what it becomes.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
