Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we are proud of our incredible stakeholders, and the diversity they represent from all areas and communities in which we operate and serve. We view this as a source of strength for us and your job is to help us make it even better.

Your Role:

At Vital Farms, the Strategy team is a highly collaborative, joyful, and driven group committed to making a meaningful and positive impact across the business. As a Manager, Strategy, you will play a critical role in advancing our most important initiatives and lead cross-functional, strategic projects. Your work will require strong analytical thinking, clear communication, and the ability to foster productive collaboration across teams. You will serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders and help shape the strategic direction of Vital Farms, all while contributing to a team culture rooted in optimism, curiosity, and shared purpose.

What You'll Do:

You will independently lead cross-functional, strategic projects AND collaborate closely with a Strategy Leadership Team member in support of broader strategy work. As a part of these projects, you will:

  • Conduct end-to-end problem solving (i.e., structure the approach, identify key stakeholders, conduct relevant analysis (qual and quant), develop the "story", provide recommendations that drive decisions and action)
  • Assess internal and external risk and opportunities; bring facts, analysis, and judgement together to identify opportunities and risks, make recommendations, and drive business decisions
  • Develop analytical tools or models (think dashboards, financial and operational models) to inform strategic decisions and projects; lead teams of cross-functional stakeholders to ensure we are developing tools with business inputs and outcomes in mind
  • Manage projects that will drive performance (financial, operational) for stakeholders (e.g., lead cross functional teams, drive change via change management best practices, and track delivery of milestones and key metrics)
  • Create clear and compelling communications for internal and external audiences
  • Be a thought partner to the Strategy leadership team (SVP Strategy and Directors of Strategy), crew and other leaders across Vital Farms and collaborate with leaders across functions as you assess opportunities and bring them to life
  • Drive change and continuously improve the Ways of Working at Vital Farms to operate effectively

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in a high analytical and fast-paced environment, such as a top-tier strategy consulting firm, investment bank, or in-house strategy team
  • You bring a passion for ethically sourced, nutritious food and purpose-driven brands
  • Ability to travel 20-30% of the time to support business priorities, onsite collaboration, and company events
  • You excel in ambiguous situations and add a little order to chaos (e.g., project management, prioritization)
  • You have off-the-charts EQ (to rival your off-the-charts IQ)
  • You balance the strategic and tactical, and have a bias for action (i.e., you ask “how can we?” vs. “can we?”) but look before you leap
  • You make recommendations based on facts, and are comfortable in a spreadsheet
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations
  • We recognize that talent comes in many forms. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. You may have strengths we haven’t yet considered!

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
  • Generous retirement contributions: 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
  • Annual bonus and equity grant (subject to business results and company approval)
  • Free eggs and butter, along with friends and family discounts.
  • Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
  • Professional development opportunities and an amazing team dedicated to your growth.

At Vital Farms, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to, skill level, experience, education, training, market demands, and business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $130,000 - $150,000. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.

Who We Are:

Vital Farms, a Certified B Corporation, offers a range of ethically produced foods nationwide. Started on a single farm in Austin, Texas, in 2007, Vital Farms became a national consumer brand that works with 350 family farms and is the leading U.S. brand of pasture-raised eggs by retail dollar sales. Vital Farms’ products, including shell eggs, butter, hard-boiled eggs, and liquid whole eggs, are sold in over 24,000 stores nationwide. Vital Farms’ ethics are exemplified by its focus on the humane treatment of farm animals and sustainable farming practices. In addition, as a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation, Vital Farms prioritizes the long-term benefits of each of its stakeholders, including farmers and suppliers, customers and consumers, communities and the environment, crew members, and stockholders. In short, we exist to improve the lives of people, animals, and our planet through food.

Next Steps:
Shortly after you complete your application, you'll receive a follow-up email elaborating on any potential next steps in our process. If you don't immediately receive said follow-up email, we would highly encourage you to check your spam filter!

In order to fulfill Vital Farms mission to “bring ethically produced food to the table,” we seek to build teams that leverage diverse perspectives to create a welcoming and innovative environment that is committed to the principles of equal employment opportunities.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
