The Social Media Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping, executing, and evolving the social media strategy across Sony Pictures’ home entertainment and TV distribution slate as well as studio-wide initiatives. This position is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and long-term planning of organic and paid social campaigns across all major platforms, including TikTok, Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp), X, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest, and emerging platforms. This includes managing the studio’s @SonyPicsAtHome handles, franchise social handles and special initiatives, driving cultural relevance, and ensuring consistency across every social media touchpoint.

In this role, the Manager serves as the community manager, developing tailored and strategic voice and tone for each campaign while engaging with fans, talent, and partners to cultivate strong, authentic connections with audiences. They also oversee global social account setup, verification, and content management, including supporting territories with account verification, troubleshooting platform issues, and streamlining the communication of best practices.

This individual leads cross-divisional alignment efforts, including participating in the One Sony social meeting, uniting teams from the Motion Picture Group, Sony Music, Sony Pictures Television, Sony Pictures Animation, Sony Corporate, and Sony Pictures Classics to drive synergy and collaboration. The role also manages partnerships and collaborative social strategy with PlayStation, Crunchyroll and other Sony entities.

The Manager serves as a central resource for social media best practices across organic and paid social media, working closely with marketing, publicity, media, creative, and influencer teams. They provide content strategy guidance, manage platform relationships, coordinate live event coverage, and offer campaign performance insights through social listening tools, native social insights, internal reporting sources across PVOD/PEST releases and TV distribution.

Working in close partnership with the Distribution Digital Marketing team, this role oversees the development and deployment of best-in-class social creative throughout premium transactional windows and TV license deals.  This role will assist in the creation of platform-native assets like Reels, Stories, TikToks, and GIFs throughout the downstream windows. They will also lead evergreen and franchise content strategy, helping shape the studio's always-on social presence and support long-term IP planning for franchise social accounts.

This role collaborates directly with social platform partners to streamline the launch of key campaign materials and accelerate approvals or requests. With a keen understanding of what drives audience engagement, they identify content and trends that spark conversation and ensure they are integrated into each campaign’s strategy. Leveraging the latest tools and features across platforms, they plan and leads live social coverage at press junkets, premieres, and special events — delivering real-time, high-impact content that captures the energy of each moment and keeps fans engaged.

The Manager will demonstrate a deep understanding of evolving platform tools, consumer behaviors, and creative innovation to ensure Sony Pictures remains a digital-first, fan-focused, and industry-leading entertainment brand online

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
