Your Role:

The Manager, Social Content Production will serve as the head of the Social Content Production Mechanism within the Global Social Media Center (GSMC). This role sits at the core of GSMC’s mid-end capability layer, responsible for translating social content strategy into high-quality, platform-ready, and scalable content assets. The Senior Manager will build and lead a cross-functional production team — encompassing content direction, short-form editing, VFX, AIGC creation, and content operations — while concurrently owning the Instagram account and serving as the Social Content Strategist for brand narrative and product storytelling. This is a player-coach role requiring both creative vision and operational rigor to sustain a high-output, AI-augmented content production engine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Mechanism Leadership: Build, lead, and continuously optimize the Social Content Production Mechanism — a mid-end team comprising a Content Director, VFX Artist(s), Film Cutter, AI Creative Director, and Content Operations. Own content production SOPs, template systems, and delivery standards that enable all platform Account Owners to execute at speed and quality.
  • Content Standards & Asset Library: Establish and govern content production standards, reusable template libraries, and multi-platform format guidelines (short-form video, image-text, Reels, etc.). Ensure all produced assets are structured for downstream reuse by Content Commerce, matrix accounts, and live streaming.
  • Social Content Strategy: Own the brand narrative design and Message House for the social layer. Drive modularization of product messaging into platform-native content formats. Lead the long-to-short content adaptation process, ensuring product and brand stories are consistently translated across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, and LinkedIn.
  • AI & Automation Integration: Actively integrate AIGC tools (e.g., Runway, ElevenLabs, Midjourney, and similar) into the production pipeline. Collaborate with the AI Workflow Center to connect content production with automation workflows, including content versioning, matrix distribution, and live clip generation.
  • Instagram Account Ownership (Concurrent): Serve as the Instagram Account Owner, overseeing official account content, Executive IP content, and brand matrix account operations on IG. Responsible for content planning, brand visual expression, publishing cadence, and platform KPIs including follower growth, engagement rate, and Reels performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the Visual Creative Center (VCC) for high-end asset adaptation, with Content Commerce (CCC) for matrix content training and production support, and with the Brand Department for narrative alignment. Serve as the production liaison for product launch content cycles (S3 system).
  • Outsourcing & Resource Management: Manage the relationship with the China-based outsourcing production company for overflow video production, design support, and surge capacity. Define briefing standards, quality benchmarks, and delivery timelines for all external production partners.
  • Performance Tracking & Optimization: Monitor content production output metrics, platform performance data, and asset reuse rates. Feed insights back into the production pipeline to continuously raise content quality, format efficiency, and cross-platform impact.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in social media content production, digital content creation, or branded video production, with 2+ years in a team lead or management capacity. Experience supporting multi-platform social strategies at scale is required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Film, Media Production, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Production Expertise: Deep hands-on knowledge of short-form video production workflows for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Proficiency in post-production tools (Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut, or equivalents).
  • Content Strategy: Demonstrated ability to translate brand and product narratives into engaging, platform-native content. Experience developing brand messaging frameworks, content SOPs, or editorial guidelines.
  • AI Content Tools: Working knowledge of AIGC creation tools (e.g., Runway, Midjourney, ElevenLabs, or similar). Comfortable building AI-assisted workflows into a production team’s daily operations.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of building and managing creative production teams. Able to lead a cross-functional group of editors, designers, VFX artists, and content ops with clarity and accountability.
  • Bilingual: Strong proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to develop content for both CN and US audiences.
  • Cross-Functional Agility: Comfortable working across social media, commerce, brand, and marketing functions in a fast-moving, matrix-style organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the technology, EV, robotics, or AI hardware sectors
  • Familiarity with AI workflow automation platforms (e.g., ManyChat, PostEverywhere, Frameloop, or similar distribution/automation tools)
  • Experience managing content production for both domestic (US/China) and international (Middle East, Southeast Asia) audiences
  • Prior experience as a platform Account Owner with direct KPI ownership (follower growth, engagement, reach)
  • Understanding of content commerce ecosystems, including how social content feeds into conversion and lead generation funnels

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
