Role overview

Newmark is hiring a West Region Workplace Leader to lead workplace strategy and asset optimization across the San Francisco Bay Area and broader West Coast region. This role is designed to shape next-generation workplace experiences for clients navigating hybrid work, AI adoption, and rapid business transformation. The position is best suited to a leader who is fluent in data, design, and human experience, and who can translate workplace strategy into measurable business value.

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, with time split across client sites, Newmark offices, and remote work based on client and team needs.

Travel: Regional travel within California and western US as needed for client engagements and workshops.

What you’ll do

  • Build senior client relationships and earn trusted-advisor status by connecting workplace strategy to talent, brand, and financial outcomes.

  • Lead engagements spanning human experience objectives, cultural and identity studies, life/work blend analysis, workplace standards, building scenarios, utilization studies, and occupancy modeling.

  • Design and facilitate executive workshops and co-creation sessions for clients across the Bay Area.

  • Translate research, employee insights, and portfolio data into workplace strategies, design guidelines, and change roadmaps that support sustainable hybrid work models.

  • Build and lead multi-disciplinary project teams in collaboration with Strategic Advisory, Occupier Services, Brokerage, and delivery partners.

  • Advise market leaders on emerging workplace trends, including AI-enabled workplaces, utilization analytics, and evolving expectations for flexibility and employee experience.

  • Identify new business opportunities and support proposal development with strong narratives, service descriptions, and fee models.

  • Monitor project budgets, utilization, profitability, billing, and fee management across the region.

  • Contribute to thought leadership through speaking, writing, and market-facing content.

  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in both client work and internal team practice.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Social Science, Business, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.

  • 10+ years of experience in workplace strategy, corporate real estate, design strategy, or related consulting.

  • A track record of leading ambiguous, cross-functional projects from discovery through implementation in fast-paced environments.

  • Strong executive communication, storytelling, and facilitation skills.

  • Proven client relationship management, business development, and negotiation experience.

  • Strong analytical and financial fluency, including experience with occupancy scenarios, business cases, and performance metrics.

  • Familiarity with digital collaboration, visualization, and strategy tools is strongly preferred.

  • Deep curiosity about the future of work, hybrid models, and the role of AI and technology in shaping workplace experience.
