JOB TITLE: Manager, Marketing Data Analytics

Position Summary:

Join athenahealth’s Marketing Operations team as a Manager, Marketing Data Analytics—a highly impactful individual contributor role focused on building and scaling trusted marketing performance insights. This role owns the end-to-end development of marketing analytics solutions, from raw data modeling to executive reporting, helping drive growth in a B2B healthcare SaaS environment. You will simplify and standardize a complex analytics ecosystem, ensuring consistent, reliable, and actionable insights across stakeholders. This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Marketing Data Analytics.

About the Team:

The Marketing Operations team enables data-driven decision making across athenahealth’s Marketing organization by developing scalable analytics, reporting, and performance frameworks. The team partners closely with Marketing, Sales, Finance, IT, and Data Engineering to align on go-to-market performance, pipeline measurement, and reporting standards. They manage a broad analytics ecosystem spanning CRM, marketing automation, and enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake and Power BI. The team’s mission is to improve the quality, consistency, and accessibility of insights that drive business growth.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the delivery of marketing analytics solutions end-to-end, including requirements gathering, SQL development, data modeling, dashboarding, QA, and stakeholder rollout

  • Develop and maintain scalable datasets and reporting tables in Snowflake to support funnel performance, campaign measurement, and pipeline generation

  • Build and manage Power BI semantic models and dashboards using strong data modeling practices (facts, dimensions, relationships, and grain)

  • Standardize KPI definitions and reporting logic across Marketing, Sales, and Finance to ensure consistency and alignment

  • Analyze marketing performance across the funnel, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Reverse-engineer and rationalize legacy dashboards and datasets, eliminating duplication and improving data quality and documentation

  • Partner with IT, Data Engineering, and BI developers to improve data pipelines, validate outputs, and ensure business accuracy

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Support ad hoc analysis and executive reporting requests across campaigns, segments, and regions

  • Collaborate with offshore or distributed BI development teams by providing technical specifications and QA oversight

  • Promote best practices in SQL development, data modeling, and BI design across the organization

  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives focused on data governance, reporting standardization, and analytics maturity

  • Drive adoption of governed datasets and reusable data products to reduce one-off reporting

  • Participate in ongoing process improvements to enhance data quality and reporting efficiency

Expected Education & Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or analytics engineering roles

  • Advanced SQL expertise, including building and optimizing datasets in Snowflake or similar platforms

  • Strong experience with Power BI (or similar BI tools), including data modeling, DAX, and dashboard development

  • Demonstrated experience working with complex or legacy data environments and improving data quality and consistency

  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (fact and dimension tables, joins, grain, aggregation)

  • Experience working with CRM and/or marketing data (e.g., Salesforce, marketing automation platforms)

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and explain insights to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred:

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, healthcare technology, or revenue-focused analytics environments

  • Familiarity with marketing funnel metrics (lead lifecycle, MQLs, pipeline, bookings)

  • Exposure to marketing attribution models (first-touch, multi-touch, campaign influence)

  • Experience collaborating with offshore or distributed development teams

  • Familiarity with modern data tools or workflows (e.g., dbt, Git, Python, Airflow, Azure DevOps)

Expected Compensation

$88,000 - $150,000

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
