Position Overview:
The Manager, HR Operations will play an important role in supporting and optimizing essential HR processes, policies, and systems, providing comprehensive employee support throughout all stages of the employment lifecycle and promoting a culture of courage, imagination, selflessness, and joy.
This role encompasses a variety of human resources responsibilities, including benefits administration, compliance, on/offboarding, and job and compensation changes. In addition, this role will be responsible for maintaining employee data and internal HR systems in accordance with company policies and data privacy regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Administer benefits, including processing new employee enrollments, QLEs, invoice reconciliations, audits, and compliance reporting
- Manage the pre-employment screening and new hire onboarding process
- Process employee changes (promotions, terminations, transfers, LOA’s, etc.)
- Facilitate Prothena’s offboarding and de-provisioning process
- Address employee questions and concerns regarding HR policies, benefits, and company procedures
- Process legal and finance reviews for HR contracts/vendors, process invoices, monitor the HR mailbox, and complete employment verifications and unemployment insurance requests
- Provide administrative support for Prothena’s key HR systems, including our benefits system, ATS, background check system, I-9 system, talent management system, learning management system, and HRIS
- Help maintain the company intranet
- Assist HR team with various special projects/events/program rollouts (employee engagement, leadership training, benefits open enrollment, mid-year and annual performance review process, etc.)
- Manage employee files and records; Ensure adherence with company policies and records retention guidelines
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Benefits Administration, HRIS, HR Operations, and Project Management roles within small to mid-sized, fast-paced, rapid-growth environments. Biotech/Pharmaceutical experience a plus.
- Demonstrated experience administering health and welfare benefits
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong technical aptitude for HR systems, data, and reporting
- Experience with Greenhouse ATS and ADP Workforce Now is highly preferred

- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with all levels of the organization
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills, and commitment to delivering high-quality results on a timely basis with limited oversight
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze HR metrics and provide insights and recommendations
- Ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures and implement change management initiatives effectively
- Proven track record as a hands-on learner with a proactive approach and a penchant for challenges
- Demonstrated self-starter with an outcome-driven mindset
Compensation Overview:
The anticipated annual salary range for this role is $120,000 to $160,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include – but are not limited to – the final job level offered, the type and length of experience within the job and industry, relevant education, qualifications, skills, certifications, performance, and business or organizational needs.
The hired applicant will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and an equity grant in the form of stock options.

- All Prothena employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, and vision insurance, with Prothena paying ~90% of plan premiums.
- Prothena pays the full premium for basic life and disability insurance for all employees.
- Prothena employees are also eligible to enroll in our Company’s 401(k) plan and are always 100% vested in their account balances. The 401(k) plan provides for a quarterly, non-discretionary, 3% company-paid contribution on eligible earnings, as well as an additional, annual discretionary Company match of up to 2% of eligible earnings.
- New Prothena employees are also eligible for 17 days of paid vacation accrued over the course of the first year of employment, paid sick time in accordance with state law, and company-paid holidays – which includes a Company-wide shutdown at the winter holidays.
