Job Description

In this role you will play a pivotal role in driving our organization's strategic talent initiatives and fostering a high-performance culture for the operations and supply chain teams in Vestcom and IDS. You will serve as a trusted advisor and consultant to senior business leaders, providing data-driven insights and innovative solutions to address complex people and organizational challenges. This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, business acumen, consulting relationship-building skills, and a passion for leveraging data and technology to drive business results.

Specifically, this role will provide HR business partnership to the VP, Operations for Vestcom & IDS, Sr Dir, Performance Optimization IDS, and Sr Dir Supply Chain as well as oversee a small team of HR managers supporting 14 US-based manufacturing and field facilities.  

 

The two most important competencies for this role are simplify and prioritize and lead change. 

Key Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Strategic Partnership:

    • Develop deep partnerships with senior business leaders to understand the business strategic goals, challenges, and talent needs, prioritizing and aligning HR strategies and initiatives with overall business objectives

    • Champion North America HR service delivery model in strong partnership with global workforce operations, workforce support, and talent acquisition to drive HR efficiency and enhance employee experience

    • Closely partner with HR COEs (talent management, total rewards, learning and organizational development, and HR solutions) to leverage and implement key enterprise talent initiatives

    • Partner with senior business leaders to drive world-class employee engagement through driving engagement action plans from the annual employee engagement survey and on-going engagement pulse surveys

    • Manage budgets, headcount and other standard requirements of a leadership role

    • Act as a consultant to business leaders, providing expert advice on talent management, organizational design, change management, and other critical HR-related processes.

  • Talent Management:

    • In partnership with talent acquisition, identify strategies to attract and retain top talent, ensuring a focus on diversity and inclusion.

    • In partnership with L&OD, identify and implement leadership development programs to build bench strength and enhance leadership capability and effectiveness.

    • Partner with business leaders to develop succession and retention plans for critical roles.

    • Actively promotes the organization's DE&I initiatives and works with the HR team to develop programs and initiatives that support a diverse and inclusive workplace.

    • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and other interventions to build organizational capability and address performance gaps.

  • Change Management:

    • Support the SG operating model evolution change initiatives by developing and implementing change management strategies, communication plans, and training programs for the operations and SC team

    • Coach and support leaders in effectively leading the change and engaging their teams

  • Data-Driven Decision Making:

    • Leverage HR analytics and workforce data to generate actionable insights that inform business decisions

    • Utilize predictive models to anticipate talent needs e.g. identify flight risks, or forecast skill gaps

    • Develop and implement data-driven solutions to improve talent acquisition, engagement, development, and retention

  • People and Stakeholder Management:

    • Manage and coach a team of HR managers, ensuring high performance and clear actionable plans aligned with organizational needs 

    • Establishing relationships with employees, plant managers and other stakeholders

    • Key contributor to the Vestcom & IDS HR leadership team

  • Leadership & Team Enablement
    • Inspire and guide HR team members to deliver operational excellence  and strategic impact. 
    • Build team capability through structured development plans, coaching, and recognition of success. 
    • Create a psychologically safe space that encourages innovation, learning, and shared ownership. 

Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE TEAM: 

Avery Dennison has a long history of being a market leader.  Your history is important to us. It should include the following: 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: 

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years as an HR Business Partner or in a similar strategic role.

Other:

  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior business leaders to drive talent and organizational initiatives.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, including proficiency in developing and delivering presentations to large audiences and the executive leadership team.

  • Excellent consulting, influencing, and relationship building skills.

  • Adaptable and client-focused with a bias for action

  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems 

  • Outstanding judgement, sensitivity and high discretion 

  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.

  • Proficiency in HRIS and talent management systems, particularly Oracle HR a plus

  • Ability to travel to sites in North America, expected ~25%%

 

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $132,675 - $176,900/ year.

The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
