Job Description

Job Summary:

The Manager, Brand Communications develops and executes strategic communications plans to increase positive consumer and trade awareness of People Inc.’s home and travel media brands. This position plays a key role in executing  proactive, cross-platform communications efforts that amplify editorial initiatives, tentpole programs, and live events—developing integrated strategies and materials that drive earned media and social amplification across brand moments.

 

The Manager, Brand Communications strengthens the visibility of editorial and brand spokespeople and leverages current cultural moments, industry trends, and editorial priorities to create media opportunities that advance the brand’s position in the marketplace. This role also plays a key part in supporting influencer engagement, event PR strategy, talent integrations, and social-forward media opportunities tied to major brand initiatives.

 

The Manager, Brand Communications partners across teams (editorial, social, marketing, events) to build brand awareness among consumers as well as within the media and trade communities, support audience growth and engagement across platforms, and generate opportunities that support marketing and sales initiatives. 

Hybrid 3x a week- New York, NY

In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

 

 In addition, the Manager, Brand Communications:

 

  • Develops and maintains a deep understanding of each brand’s voice, audience, editorial priorities, and business objectives to inform strategic communications decisions

  • Identifies and executes media opportunities that advance key brand initiatives and narratives

  • Builds and maintains relationships with consumer print, digital, broadcast, lifestyle, travel, and trade media contacts

  • Supports creation and execution of PR strategy for brand events, including media outreach, talent and influencer coordination, and on-site press management

  • Collaborates with cross-functional partners on PR strategy and planning to ensure alignment and maximize impact

  • Supports celebrity, creator, and influencer outreach tied to editorial features, awards programs, and live events

  • Assesses and responds to incoming media opportunities and inquiries, prioritizing requests to maximize impact and return on time and resources

  • Anticipates potential communications issues and prepares accordingly

  • Prepares brand spokespeople for media interviews, shoots, appearances, and broadcast opportunities

  • Develops and distributes press materials, including press releases, media alerts, Q&As, FAQs, spokesperson bios, and related communications assets

  • Supports influencer relationship management tied to events, key initiatives, and brand collaborations

  • Tracks and reports on media coverage and social performance tied to editorial tentpoles, awards programs, and live events

 

Essential Job Functions:

40% - Daily management of PR for select brands, including securing earned media coverage across consumer, broadcast, digital, and trade outlets; developing press materials and announcements; and supporting preparation of brand spokespeople for media opportunities and key brand moments.

30 % - Supports execution of PR strategy for key brand initiatives, including editorial tentpoles and brand events, in partnership with cross-functional teams—managing media outreach, talent and influencer coordination, and on-site press support (some travel required).

10% - Identify and support new media opportunities and creative angles that enhance visibility for key brand initiatives.

10% - Build and maintain relationships with media contacts, external partners, and influencers to support visibility for editorial initiatives and brand events.

10% - Monitor, track, and report on media and social coverage; distribute recaps and maintain press archives to inform ongoing communications efforts.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree preferred 

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of public relations experience, preferably within media, lifestyle or agency environments. 

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging across platforms

- Thorough understanding of the current media landscape and effective media relations practices, with the ability to identify what drives newsworthiness across consumer, digital, broadcast, and trade outlets

- Experience supporting or managing PR for live events, including media coordination and on-site execution

- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining media and influencer relationships

- Ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

- Detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset

% Travel Required (Approximate): 10%

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees.
