We are seeking a Manager – Advisory, HR Business Partners, to join our HR Business Partners team within the Human Resources department. They’ll support our Advisory department, which is a growing national practice made up of multiple service lines and approximately 800 partners and employees, that support clients across a broad range of industries and markets. Serving as a trusted advisor to both leaders and employees, this role provides strategic and day-to-day HR partnership across employee relations, performance management, organizational effectiveness, talent development, compliance, and leadership coaching. The HR Manager will play a key role in driving people into initiatives that support business objectives, as well as foster a high-performing and inclusive workplace culture. The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of California employment law, demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced professional services environment.

This individual must be proactive, resourceful, and highly responsive, with a strong sense of urgency and the initiative needed to support a growing organization. Working closely with business leaders, the Human Resources Manager will help develop and execute HR strategies, enhance employee engagement, and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.

Responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary HR business partner to the Advisory practice, providing strategic and day-to-day HR support to leaders and employees.
  • Manage a broad range of Human Resources functions, including employee relations, conflict resolution, HRIS administration, onboarding and offboarding, talent acquisition, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Manage and develop direct reports, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and service-oriented HR team.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with business leaders to understand organizational priorities, workforce needs, and talent strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations matters, conduct investigations and resolve complex workplace issues while ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies and employment laws.
  • Balance business and employee needs by effectively communicating company policies and practices while advocating for a positive employee experience.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on performance management, employee development, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and change management.
  • Support and administer key annual HR processes, including performance reviews, compensation planning, promotions, and succession planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, with a strong emphasis on California employment law.
  • Oversee HRIS data integrity and leverage workforce data, reporting, and analytics to support informed business decisions.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition on recruiting efforts, workforce planning, and hiring initiatives to attract and retain top talent.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders to support organizational objectives and mitigate risk.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects (as assigned).
Qualifications

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field (professional HR certification—SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR— preferred).
  • Have a minimum of 6-9 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including extensive employee relations and HR business partnering responsibilities.
  • Have experience supporting leaders within professional services, consulting, accounting, legal, financial services, or other client-focused environments.
  • Have experience supporting multi-state employee populations (preferred).
  • Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, sound judgment, integrity, confidentiality, and strong self-awareness in handling sensitive and complex matters.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while exercising exceptional judgment and maintaining strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess exceptional organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, manage multiple competing demands, and meet deadlines.
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Have experience working with HRIS platforms (familiarity with Paycom is preferred).
