The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Join a small, collaborative litigation group and take responsibility for a caseload of civil disputes alongside senior partners. The work centers on preparing court filings, running the discovery process and researching legal questions, with room to take on significant matters early.

What you'll do

- Manage commercial and environmental disputes from start to finish for business clients.

- Prepare pleadings, motions and briefs for court.

- Draft discovery requests and prepare responses to those received.

- Research the law and analyze issues to help shape case strategy.

- Work side by side with partners in a fast-moving litigation group.


Requirements

What we're looking for

- 1 to 5 years of civil litigation experience; someone with about a year at a firm may be considered.

- Active membership in the California Bar.

- A law degree from a respected school, with a solid record of academic achievement, and a transcript to submit with the application.

- Hands-on background preparing court filings, discovery materials and motion practice.

- Clear, persuasive writing and sharp analytical thinking, demonstrated through a writing sample submitted with the application.

- A team-minded approach and comfort in a busy practice group.

- Based in Sacramento or willing to relocate there.

Bonus points

- Prior business or environmental litigation work at a mid-size or large California firm.

- Top class standing or involvement in a legal journal.

- Working knowledge of common legal research platforms.


Benefits

Compensation and benefits

- Base salary: USD 165,000 to 185,000 per year
