Overview

Microsoft’s Creative, Advertising & Integrated Marketing team is looking for a Line Producer to join the Creative Production organization supporting Windows, Surface and Services.

Reporting to the Head of Creative Production, you’ll play an integral role producing creative campaigns across film, photography, social, digital, content and other marketing channels.

You are first and foremost a maker and problem solver: an experienced producer who understands what great creative work requires and knows how to build the right production approach around the ambition of the idea.

You bring a deep, current network across the production community, with relationships spanning production companies, directors, photographers, crews, studios and specialist creative partners. You have line experience producing films, photography, and commercial level work across a range of small to large projects. Just as importantly, you have the judgment to know who is right for the work. You can assemble a nimble team for a fast-moving piece of content, identify emerging talent for an unconventional idea, or bring together world-class partners for a major global production.

This is a hands-on production role. You’ll partner closely with creative teams from early development through production and final delivery, bringing resourcefulness, rigor and calm to the process. You’ll help us find smart ways to make ambitious work, balancing creative possibilities with budget, schedule and production realities without losing sight of what makes the idea great.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce ambitious creative work from idea through delivery. Partner with Creative Directors and creative teams to determine the right production approach, translating ideas into thoughtful scopes, budgets, schedules and execution plans across film, photography, social, digital and content. You are responsible for scoping and timelines, all the way through shot logistics and delivery.

  • Build the right team around the idea. Draw on a strong and constantly evolving network of production companies, directors, photographers, crews, studios and specialist partners to match talent and production models to the creative ambition, scale and needs of each project.

  • Own the practical and financial realities of production. Manage bidding, rate negotiations, budgets, schedules, vendors, talent, locations, crews, logistics and other production requirements, maintaining transparency and rigor while finding solutions that protect the creative idea.

  • Lead productions with confidence and resourcefulness. Work closely with internal teams (partner teams, leadership, legal, etc) in addition to agencies and external partners through pre-production, shoots and post-production, anticipating challenges, making sound production decisions and keeping the work moving at a high level.

  • Build exceptional external partnerships. Develop trusted relationships across the production community, continually expanding our access to established and emerging directors, production companies, craftspeople and specialist talent.

  • Help strengthen how we make creative work. Bring knowledge of contemporary production practices, talent, partners and emerging ways of working that expand what is creatively possible and help the organization produce exceptional work across a range of budgets and scales.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience in professional production environment (e.g., lighting, shooting, audio recording, web production, writing), post-production environment, or broadcasting (e.g., local news) OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications:

  • Significant professional experience as a Line Producer, Agency Producer, Integrated Producer or equivalent within an advertising agency, production company, in-house creative organization or related production environment.

  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality consumer advertising, film, photography, content or integrated creative work from initial scoping and bidding through production, post-production and final delivery.

  • A deep and current network across the production ecosystem, including strong relationships with production companies, directors, photographers, crews, studios and specialist production partners across a range of scales and production models.

  • Strong production judgment and the ability to identify the right talent, partners and approach for the creative idea, whether the work requires a small, agile team or a complex, high-profile production.

  • Strong command of production budgets, schedules, bidding, logistics and commercial production workflows, with the ability to balance creative ambition with responsible production management.

  • Experience collaborating closely with creative teams and external partners, with a reputation for being resourceful, solutions-oriented and calm under pressure.

  • A genuine passion for creative work, production craft and finding smart ways to make ambitious ideas possible.

  • Experience producing nationally or globally recognized consumer advertising and creative work.

  • Experience across a range of production models and scales, including live action, photography, social content, motion, animation and VFX.

  • Experience producing with leading and emerging directors, photographers, production companies, studios and creative talent.

  • Strong knowledge of contemporary production culture and an active interest in discovering new talent, partners, technologies and approaches.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
