About Abacum

Abacum is the leading Business Planning solution for finance teams to drive performance. By automating reporting, enabling collaboration, and simplifying planning and forecasting, we help finance teams shift from number crunching to driving strategic decisions.

Founded in 2020 by two former CFOs, we’ve grown into a global team of 100+ people across 30+ nationalities. Headquartered in New York, we have offices in Toronto and Barcelona. We’re trusted by industry leaders such as Dish Networks, Strava, BetterUp, Kajabi, JG Wentworth, Abridge, Cortex, and hundreds more.

We have raised over $100m, closing in June 2025 our $60M Series B, led by Scale Venture Partners, with the strong participation of Cathay Innovation, Y Combinator, Atomico, Creandum, and angel operators from Adyen, Zapier, and Twitch.

Our mission is ambitious and we can’t do it alone - join Abacum as we build the future of Business Planning!

About the role

You own lifecycle marketing at Abacum: the path a lead takes from first interest through high intent to conversion, and the programs that carry them along it. You will design the nurture tracks, the segmentation and the scoring that decide what a lead sees next, and you will own the numbers that say whether any of it worked.

This is a build role. You are the first person here dedicated to this surface, so the programs, the measurement and the handoff to sales are yours to design rather than inherit. That means real latitude over what gets built first, and real accountability for the result.

What you will do

  • Own the lifecycle programs that carry a lead from first interest through to a sales conversation.

  • Design nurture tracks that match where someone is in their evaluation

  • Define what makes a lead ready for sales and where it routes once it is.

  • Connect account-level engagement signals to the follow-up programs that act on them.

  • Run the marketing automation stack day to day, including flows, lists, data hygiene and deliverability.

  • Report on conversion between lifecycle stages so the team can see which programs are producing pipeline.

  • Test offers, timing and audience cuts continuously so the program mix keeps improving.

What you bring

  • Lifecycle marketing expert with hands on experience: You have run lifecycle marketing at a seed to Series B B2B company where you were both the strategy and the execution.

  • Or marketing ops that grew into it: You came from marketing with analytical acumen, so you understand the data model underneath the programs and not only the campaign layer.

  • Hands on the tools: You have five to six years of experience building Hubspot flows yourself rather than briefing someone else to build them.

  • Not specialised away from execution: You want the whole lifecycle surface rather than one slice of it divided between an email team, an ops team and an agency.

  • Conversion as the measure: You judge your own work on stage-to-stage conversion and contribution to pipeline.

  • Clear about the handoff: You have worked closely enough with sales to know that a lead marketing calls ready and a lead a rep calls ready are not always the same thing.

  • Based in New York: You are in NYC and want to work hybrid alongside the rest of the marketing team.

Bonus points

  • You have marketed to finance teams or another technical buyer where credibility matters more than volume.

  • You can write SQL or work directly in a data warehouse to answer your own questions about funnel performance.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation including equity package

  • Competitive vacation policy

  • Medical Insurance

  • L&D budget

  • Access to Meditopia (wellbeing platform)

  • Language courses (English / Spanish)

Our Values

Customer Obsession: We share the understanding that Abacum's sole purpose is to create value for customers and relentlessly deploy all creativity and energy to that end.

Audacious Ambition: We dream big and embrace discomfort. We assume risks, make on-time mistakes and learn how to methodically accomplish our goals.

Good People: We are self-reflective and praise diversity of thought. We don't justify the end with the means and know where to draw the line. We have fun every day.

Tough Love: We truly care for everyone in the team and embrace honest feedback and radical candor as ways to genuinely help each other.

Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender perception or identity, national origin, age, marital status, protected veteran status, or disability status.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
