Regulatory Compliance Manager
THE PURPOSE:
The Regulatory Compliance Manager will act as a focus for Virgin Hyperloop-One’s activity to define and demonstrate compliance with the emerging regulatory and standards framework for hyperloop systems.
The Regulatory Compliance Manager is responsible for defining, implementing, and demonstrating continued compliance to a variety of federal, regulatory, and customer standards for a revolutionary high-speed transportation system.
THE ROLE:
The Regulatory Compliance Manager is responsible for defining, implementing, and demonstrating continued compliance to a variety of federal, regulatory, and customer standards for a revolutionary high-speed transportation system.
They will coordinate engagement activities with regulatory authorities on a global basis and will conduct and lead research into relevant legislation and regulation.
The Role will include the following tasks:
- Evaluate, extract/data mine aviation, rail, OSHA, and international equivalent standards and assess applicability for Hyperloop One.
- Define requirements for hyperloop services and systems necessary to evidence compliance.
- Develop safety specific failure mode scenarios for Hyperloop One.
- Develop design principles with respect to regulatory compliance to continuously review and improve the identification and application of elements of the corrective action process, including problem identification, failure analysis, root cause analysis, problem correction, recurrent control and verification of effectiveness.
- Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, implement, and manage regulatory compliance accreditations and programs.
- Lead efforts to complete and return customer and regulatory surveys and questionnaires with a focus on data accuracy and on-time completion.
- Support proposal teams from a compliance perspective.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Experienced professional with excellent knowledge of compliance challenges and activities in a regulated industry, such as aviation or rail.
- Good understanding of the needs of regulatory agencies, ideally with strong experience of direct interaction with regulators
- Must have a track record working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to dialogue, negotiate, influence and work with other collaboratively and constructively.
- Strategic Focus/Vision to translate vision and strategy into a clear, actionable goals.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working in technology development in aerospace or rail industry.
- Experience of creating or assessing documentation necessary to evidence safety and regulatory compliance
- Experience of working closely with regulatory bodies in at least one geography or technical area
- BS degree in an engineering discipline or related field.
- Ability to work independently, within a team, and with other groups.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience in aerospace or rail industry.
- MS and/or PhD in an engineering discipline or a related field.
- Experience of dealing with regulatory bodies in multiple geographies and technical areas
- Familiarity with EU Common Safety Method for developing regulations for new technologies
