Based in any U.S. office (New York or Palo Alto preferred), the Legal Technology & AI Attorney – Tech & Innovation will sit at the intersection of legal practice, technology, and experimentation within the Tech & Innovation Industry Group. This role is designed for a lawyer with a strong foundation in technology-sector legal work who is also deeply engaged with how AI, technology, and new ways of working are reshaping legal practice and will continue to transform legal practice in the years to come.

The ideal candidate brings substantive credibility to earn the trust of practicing lawyers, combined with an innovator’s mindset energized by designing, testing, and scaling new tools, workflows, and systems. As part of the Knowledge Management & AI Group, this position collaborates across offices and administrative teams—including Research, Practice Group Management, and Information Technology—to translate emerging technology into practical, high-impact tools for lawyers and clients.

This role reports to the Sr. Director & Counsel of Knowledge & AI.

Responsibilities include:

AI, Technology & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to apply AI, automation, and emerging technologies across a spectrum of Tech & Innovation-related matters, including technology and product regulatory counseling, government and regulatory investigations, technology and IP litigation, artificial intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, and data matters, technology transactions, and commercial agreements, informed by a strong understanding of the practice and lawyer workflows.
  • Evaluate, prototype, and implement AI-assisted tools, document automation solutions, prompt libraries, and technology-enabled workflows to enhance efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
  • Participate in technology pilots and assessments, including AI-driven research, drafting, knowledge extraction, contract and document analysis, and technology and market analytics platforms.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, technologists, and administrative teams to design practical, user-centered tools that reflect real-world legal judgment and practice needs.
  • Lead training sessions for attorneys and staff to promote the effective use of knowledge systems, AI tools, and new workflows.
  • Capture feedback from lawyers and stakeholders to support continuous improvement of KM products, processes, and technology adoption.

Knowledge Assets and Systems

  • Support the ongoing enhancement of the Firm’s Tech & Innovation knowledge and work-product resources by integrating evolving legal, regulatory, and market developments into model materials, guidance, and related content, with a focus on modernizing the way such resources are organized, maintained, and leveraged.
  • Use AI-assisted tools and structured review mechanisms to analyze, compare, and refine Tech & Innovation work product and knowledge materials against internal standards and evolving law, regulation, and market practice.
  • Help build and maintain scalable precedent and knowledge infrastructure that improves consistency, promotes knowledge reuse, and supports AI-assisted and other legal technology initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted internal resource for Tech & Innovation lawyers, providing practical legal judgment and guidance while translating substantive expertise into effective knowledge and technology solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated passion for AI and emerging technology, including a strong perspective on how such tools can be applied to Tech & Innovation legal practice and workflows.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, technologists, and administrative professionals.
  • Strong initiative and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Creative and strategic thinker who is open to experimentation, iteration, and multiple approaches to complex problems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently.
  • Commitment to knowledge-sharing, efficiency, and excellence in legal work, with a focus on client service and business impact.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across practice groups and departments.

Experience:

  • A J.D., Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent with strong academic credentials; must be admitted to practice and in good standing in the state where they will be based.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a technology-focused practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply legal training to new contexts, including workflow design, tool development, or process improvement efforts; personal or professional coding or tech-related building experience is very highly valued.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $250 - $300k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.

Benefits offered for this position include health care; retirement benefits; paid days off, including sick time, and vacation time; parental leave; basic life insurance; Flexible Spending Accounts; as well as discretionary, performance-based bonuses.
