A Day in the Life

The Legal Operations Manager & Paralegal will work closely with the EVP, General Counsel, perform a dual role providing versatile paralegal support on a broad range of corporate and financial services-related legal matters, while simultaneously acting as the key lead architect of our legal department’s operational excellence. Some travel may be required.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Legal Operations

    • Define and develop innovative strategic operational systems and initiatives within the legal department designed to unlock meaningful efficiencies both within the department and cross-departmentally

    • Working closely with the department’s executive personnel, understand, manage and improve legal operations processes and workflows for contracts, compliance, litigation and corporate governance to reduce manual tasks and improve turnaround times

    • In conjunction with the General Counsel, lead identification, implementation and maintenance of legal operations technology and automation solutions (e.g., contract lifecycle management, matter management, AI implementation, legal department automation tools, etc.). Act as key company negotiator on related vendor contracts and work cross-departmentally on existing system integration.

    • Assist in establishing, monitoring and reporting on key legal operational metrics and dashboards designed to achieve operational and budgetary efficiencies. Provide insights to leadership on resource allocation, risk trends, and efficiency gains

    • Liaise cross-departmentally to collaborate on workflow development/improvement, processes and procedures, including finance, operations, IT, sales, and credit teams

    • Develop and oversee legal knowledge management systems and initiatives, including legal document records and databases, standardized templates and playbooks, regulatory and legal research, legal “wiki” solutions and other matters

  • Paralegal Support

    • Oversee corporate entity management, including preparation of formation documents and managing ongoing state and local organizational and governance filings

    • Assist in driving the Company’s regulatory license management processes, including collaborating to obtain information and adhere to scheduled reporting requirements

    • Manage internal and external due diligence, including interfacing with internal and external stakeholders in document gathering and review

    • Work closely with the General Counsel in managing outside counsel

    • Prepare and organize board and other governance materials

    • Assist attorneys in subpoena, records requests and other legal process management and response

    • Prepare legal related memos, correspondence, checklists and other documentation

    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient and effective operation of the department and that help to make Lendistry the best place to work! 

Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)

  • Paralegal Certificate (preferred)

  • At least 5 years of combined law firm and in-house legal, paralegal, or legal ops experience, preferably with a focus in financial services or other related industries

  • Requires builder/innovator mindset; someone who can transform a traditional legal department into a modern, tech-enabled function

  • Demonstrated experience in project management and building legal operations processes from the ground up

  • Advanced experience with legal management technology, including knowledge management software, task management software, and contract management systems preferred

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, One Note, etc.) and Lucidchart desired

  • Very detailed oriented

  • Very strong interpersonal skills

  • Possess exceptional oral, written, and organizational skills

  • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion

  • Project a professional image in company communications

  • Must be able to work independently in bringing complex tasks to closure with minimal supervision

  • Able to handle multiple assignments from various stakeholders and competing priorities

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills

  • Data-driven

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to rapidly changing priorities

  • Sense of humor and willingness to work as part of a highly-collaborative team

Compensation Range

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000 – $125,000 annually.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base salary for new hires for the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by multiple factors like job-related skills, experience, and state of residence.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the interview process.

Physical Requirements

This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting (approximately 95%), repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  It also may require occasional standing, lifting, carrying of 20lbs or less, walking, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing, and reaching above the shoulder.  Employees in this position must be physically able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position.
