We are building a Research Services department sitting at the intersection of research, business development, AI and knowledge management and seek a Senior Researcher to join our Research Services team. The Senior Researcher reports to the Senior Manager, Research Services and is responsible for supporting and providing generalist research services to the firm’s fee-earners, attorneys, consultants, business development and other business groups. The level of research support includes: primary and secondary legal and business research using primarily electronic resources. Associated administrative work includes training, assisting the Research Services Director with evaluating new and existing licenses and subscriptions, staying abreast of trends and new technology and supporting the firm’s AI initiatives. This role can be based in our Los Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento, San Diego or San Francisco offices.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct in-depth research across all practice groups and business units.
- Train and support attorneys and business professionals on the efficient use of firm resources.
- Proactively respond to incoming research assignments, and ensure strong communication, timeliness, thoroughness and accuracy.
- Assist with other research tasks and projects as required.
- Proactively stay abreast of new products and services and lead demos and trials, resource evaluations, and products recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Library Science, Information Science, or a related field along with MLIS or equivalent work experience.
- 6+ years’ of research experience, either within a law firm or a professional services organization performing similar responsibilities as set forth in this job description.
- Demonstrated proficiency in legal research databases, such as Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law and a variety of other resources
- Strong knowledge of library systems and workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a hybrid (remote + office) team.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
The base annual pay range for this role is between $75,000-$115,000. The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience, location and will also take into account internal equity. A full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits dependent on the position will also be offered.
