About Earth

At Earth, we believe how we say farewell matters. Our mission is to transform the end-of-life experience by offering families a beautiful, sustainable alternative to cremation and burial.

Instead of traditional methods that harm the environment, our gentle, natural process transforms bodies into nutrient-rich soil in just 45 days, returning life to the earth and leaving a meaningful legacy. This process — sometimes called soil transformation or natural organic reduction (NOR) — is powered by our proprietary vessel technology, which carefully recreates the conditions found in nature.

Earth is the national leader in soil transformation, backed by major investors, and growing fast.

The Role

We're hiring a Lead Product Manager to help us build the technology that powers an entirely new approach to death care. We've built proprietary technology to transform one of life's oldest industries, and now we’re scaling quickly.

This role is ideal for someone who loves building from the ground up and wants real ownership over our products and how we build them. You'll own our product roadmap, help shape our product processes, build our Design function, and partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Sales & Marketing, and Leadership.

We're looking for someone who is obsessed with understanding consumers, uses data to make decisions, and still enjoys rolling up their sleeves and building alongside the team. This is not a pure management role. You'll write PRDs, talk to families, review designs, sit in sprint planning, and help ship products with the team.

What You’ll Do

  • Set Earth's product direction and roadmap in partnership with the company’s leadership.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our families, operators, and internal teams, and turn those insights into products people genuinely love using.
  • Own prioritization across product initiatives and engineering swim lanes, ensuring our roadmap aligns with company goals and measurable business outcomes.
  • Design and deploy a crisp product process so we can prioritize well, make decisions quickly, and execute consistently.
  • Create a reliable release rhythm so teams know what's shipping, when it's shipping, and why it matters.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Engineering to prioritize effectively, execute quickly, and build products that make a real difference for our families and team.
  • Build and lead our design function, including hiring our first Product Designer, establishing a high bar for user experience.
  • Mentor and develop our existing Product Manager and help build the product organization for our next stage of growth.
  • Define how we'll measure success and use data to learn, iterate, and make better decisions.
  • Remain deeply hands-on, from customer discovery through launch and iteration.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of product management experience, including significant experience building consumer growth products and optimizing consumer purchase experiences.
  • Proven track record of owning products end-to-end and driving measurable business and customer outcomes.
  • Natural coach and mentor who enjoys developing people and building strong teams.
  • Experience building products in fast-paced startup environments and using AI and modern product tools to move faster and work smarter.
  • Excellent prioritizer who ships and drives to done; makes hard trade-offs under constraints and is measured by what is launched, not what is surfaced.

Location

This role is based at our HQ in San Francisco. Our SF team is hybrid and typically works from our office in North FiDi / Jackson Square 1-2 days per week.

Benefits

  • Base salary plus equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Parental leave
  • Sabbatical after 4 years
  • An opportunity to be a part of a vibrant and energized team working to transform the death care industry

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
