The Role

As a Lead Product Designer at Veeva, you'll set the design direction for one of our core Vault product areas and help shape how the design team works at its best. We're looking for a seasoned designer who combines strong craft with the judgment and presence to lead — someone who can define the vision for a feature, drive alignment across Product, Engineering, and Design, and raise the quality of the work around them.

This role goes beyond execution. You'll be the design authority in your product area, a thought partner to Product and Design leadership, and a meaningful contributor to how we grow and develop our design practice.

This is an incredible opportunity to design products that will impact millions of lives. Your work will be used by the largest global pharmaceutical and biotech companies to bring their medicine, treatments, and products to the doctors and patients who need them.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive the design vision and strategy for your product area; drive alignment with Design, Engineering and Product Leadership
  • Own the design of complex, high-impact features from early concept throught final delivery – executing at every stage of the lifecycle
  • Set a high bar for craft, consistency, and user experience within your area; contribute shared design systems and patterns that scale across the product.  Champion all.
  • Mentor and develop other designers through critique, feedback, and pairing – making the team better through your presence and judgment
  • Serve as the design voice in cross-functional planning, representing the team’s perspective and influencing product decisions upstream.
  • Partner with Product Management to shape strategy and requirements, not just respond to them
  • Own a point of view on how AI fits into the design workflow – actively piloting tools, sharing what works, and building team habits that make every designer faster and more capable

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product design experience with web applications/products
  • Extensive experience in a senior individual contributor role on a product design team
  • An outstanding portfolio, showcasing a foundation in Typography, Interaction, Visual Design, and Ideation
  • Ability and enjoyment of designing end-to-end experiences, including UX and Visual Design.
  • Experience working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic and rapid growth environment
  • Experience partnering with Product Managers to develop strategy and rationale for features
  • Experience with prototyping to explore and convey design solutions
  • Strong belief in user-centered design principles
  • The ability to work independently to troubleshoot technical and process-related issues
  • Self-sufficient and go-getter.  Ability to seek out answers to your own questions
  • Amazing time management skills, with prior experience in a time sensitive development environment
  • Must have online portfolio accompanying their resume/cv

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Life Science

Perks & Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance
  • Flexible PTO and company paid holidays
  • Retirement programs
  • 1% charitable giving program

Compensation

  • Base pay: $130,000 - $200,000
  • The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
