The Lead Product Commercial Marketing Manager is a strategic, career-oriented professional responsible for developing and executing integrated go-to-market strategies that drive gross adds, reduce churn, improve customer engagement, and grow ARPU. This role owns the end-to-end product marketing lifecycle for their assigned domain, translating market and customer insights into actionable campaigns while managing critical cross-functional relationships to ensure aligned, on-time, and successful delivery of business outcomes. As a subject matter expert, the Lead Product Commercial Marketing Manager establishes best practices, mentors less experienced team members, and operates with a high degree of autonomy on complex, broad-scope initiatives.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Strategy & Campaign Development

  • Lead the development and execution of integrated product marketing campaigns across multiple channels (digital, retail, paid/owned/earned media, lifecycle/CRM, etc.).
  • Establish product positioning and messaging strategies that drive customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Design and implement customer segmentation and targeting strategies to optimize campaign relevance and performance.
  • Develop testing roadmaps (A/B, multivariate) to continuously optimize messaging, offers, and channel mix.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Project Management

  • Manage relationships with cross-functional partners (Product, Sales, Care, Analytics, Creative, Legal, Finance) to ensure strategic alignment and on-time delivery.
  • Own project timelines, manage dependencies, and proactively resolve roadblocks that could impact schedules or milestones.
  • Communicate campaign status, results, and risks to leadership and incorporate feedback into ongoing execution.
  • Lead small projects independently or drive substantial portions of larger organizational initiatives.

Market & Competitive Intelligence

  • Develop comprehensive competitive analysis and market intelligence reports to inform product and marketing strategy.
  • Monitor market trends, customer behavior, and competitor activity to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Translate research and analytics into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders.

Performance Analysis & Optimization

  • Track and report on campaign performance against KPIs (gross adds, churn, ARPU, engagement).
  • Leverage marketing automation and analytics platforms to measure effectiveness and iterate on strategy.
  • Apply testing best practices to validate hypotheses and scale what works.

Mentorship & Best Practices

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the product marketing domain.
  • Establish and document best practices for the broader marketing organization.
  • Provide regular guidance, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced team members.

What you’ll need to be successful:

Required

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in product marketing, brand marketing, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience leading integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns.
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing automation platforms and fundamentals (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Braze, Marketo).
  • Strong working knowledge of analytics platforms and ability to translate data into strategic insight (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Tableau).
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with minimal oversight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership.
  • Experience with customer segmentation, targeting, and testing methodologies (A/B/multivariate testing).

Preferred

  • Experience in B2B Marketing and Cross Functional Partnerships.
  • Experience in telecom, subscription services, or a related consumer-facing industry.
  • Familiarity with churn reduction, retention, and ARPU-growth strategies.
  • Experience mentoring or informally leading junior team members.
  • Project management certification or equivalent experience (e.g., Agile/Scrum familiarity).

Core Competencies

  • Strategic thinking with a bias toward execution.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influence without direct authority.
  • Analytical rigor paired with creative problem-solving.
  • Comfort operating independently in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
