About Revel

Revel is building the next-generation software platform for controlling and interacting with mission-critical hardware across industries like aerospace, energy, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. Our tools replace outdated, complex systems with intuitive, high-performance interfaces that help engineers move faster and operate with precision.

We are a fast-growing startup with a strong engineering culture and a focus on solving deeply technical problems with clean, thoughtful design.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Lead Graphic Designer to shape our brand identity and oversee our growing design team. This is a high-impact role for a leader with 8+ years of experience who thrives on a mix of strategic vision, people management, and hands-on design execution.

In this role, you will manage our graphic design team, review and elevate their work, and partner closely with leadership across marketing and sales. You will drive Revel’s brand identity end-to-end, across marketing, complex product storytelling, digital surfaces, and physical environments, ensuring a unified visual language from web interfaces to physical hardware contexts.

What You'll Do

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and advocate for our team of graphic designers. Establish clear creative workflows, run design critiques, and give direct, specific feedback.

  • Brand Strategy & Vision: Help set the creative direction for Revel's identity and evolve it as the company grows. Turn complex technical capabilities like real-time telemetry, test automation, and facility-wide control into visuals an engineer will trust.

  • Hands-on Execution: Design critical, high-visibility assets yourself when needed, balancing leadership with active creation across digital, print, and interactive media.

  • Product & UX Collaboration: Bridge the gap between brand and product by partnering with graphic and product design teams to ensure a flawless, unified user experience across software and brand surfaces.

  • Physical & Merch Design: Support physical brand extensions, including apparel, high-end swag, and event spaces that resonate with a highly technical audience.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in graphic design, visual design, or UX/UI design, with at least 2+ years of experience managing, leading, or mentoring

  • Strong Portfolio demonstrating:

    • High-level creative direction and cohesive corporate brand systems.

    • Deep expertise in layout, hierarchy, typography, and simplifying highly complex technical ideas into elegant visuals.

    • A track record of reviewing, editing, and improving the creative work of others.

  • Technical Industry Familiarity: Experience working with or supporting technical, engineering-driven environments (B2B SaaS, hard tech, robotics, or aerospace).

  • Cross-functional Fluency: Ability to interface with product designers and engineers, understanding user journeys and how branding influences UX.

  • Proficiency with Figma (for both collaborative brand design and design systems).

  • Comfort operating and organizing workflows in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with 3D design, industrial design contexts, animation, or advanced motion graphics.

  • Deep background in hard tech industries (aerospace, defense, robotics, advanced manufacturing).

Why This Role

  • Design for groundbreaking technology used across aerospace, energy, and defense, with real customer work like engine tests and reactor programs to draw from.

  • Work across a wide range of media: web, product, video, print, events, and physical merchandise.

  • Collaborative, ambitious environment where design is treated as core to the product.

  • Competitive salary, substantial equity, and significant personal growth opportunities.

Benefits

  • Health insurance — We offer comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage to support you and your family.

  • 401(k) — Save for your future with our 401(k) plan.

  • Equity — All full-time employees receive equity, ensuring that you share in Revel's success and growth.

  • Life insurance — Company-paid life insurance gives you and your family peace of mind.

  • Parental leave — We offer paid maternity and paternity leave to support new parents.

  • Catered lunch — We provide catered lunch five days a week, so you can stay fueled and focused.

  • Unlimited PTO — We trust you to take the time you need. Unlimited PTO for all full-time employees.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
