Lactation Consultant - Obstetrics

This is a FT Lactation Consultant position at Providence St John's Health Center,  in Santa Monica, CA. Multiple FT positions and shifts (Day and evening) depending on availability. 

The Lactation Consultant (LC) is supervised by the Manager of Mother-Baby Unit. The LC is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the breastfeeding assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The position serves as a lead consultant that will provide breast-feeding education and assistance to in-patients and outpatients. The consultant will also provide education to nursing staff. This will ensure that consistent support is available to all patients.

Required Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: Keep up to date on continuing education credits by the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) to maintain IBCLC status.
• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association.
• Upon hire: International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
• 2 years of experience as an In-patient Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
• 2 years of experience in an inpatient Postpartum, newborn or couplet care setting [willing to be trained to function in a Neonatal Intensive care unit (NICU) setting].
