JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Manager Digital Marketing helps drive ticket sales, revenue, and long term fan engagement by improving how we market across digital channels. This role focuses on understanding performance, using data to make decisions, and improving how fans move through our digital journey—from ads to website and app experiences to email and SMS communications. This role will be responsible for the recruitment, development and supervision of marketing department.

This position works closely with internal teams (marketing channels, creative, ticketing, BI) and external agencies to make our digital marketing smarter, more efficient, and more personalized.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performance Optimization & Insights

  • Lead weekly and monthly digital performance reporting across paid media, web, app, email, and SMS
  • Deliver clear, executive‑ready insights connecting channel performance directly to ticket sales, revenue, and fan engagement
  • Identify performance gaps and develop clear, prioritized optimization recommendations to drive improved results across all digital platforms
  • Proactively identify trends, opportunities, and risks to inform decision‑making and marketing resource allocation

Lifecycle Marketing

  • Build fan segmentation strategies, automated journeys, and personalization frameworks in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. To ensure best fan experiences that are timely, relevant and person
  • Improve audience targeting, deliverability, and customer lifetime value through smarter messaging and frequency governance.
  • Partner with email/SMS team to plan, test, and optimize lifecycle campaign

Cross-Channel Strategy

  • Turn business goals into clear digital marketing plans across paid media, website/app, and lifecycle messaging
  • Define KPIs and measurement frameworks for key campaigns and tentpole moments.
  • Connect the full fan journey - from ad impression to website/app behavior to purchase and retention

Web & App Optimization

  • Work closely with web/app team to develop and recommend strategies to grow web/app traffic, engagement, and conversion rates
  • Audit the web/app user experience and partner on landing-page tests, navigation improvements, SEO, and in app messaging
  • Support experimentation across forms, modules, personalization, and ticketing flows to keep up with system changes and user demands of our digital assets

Testing & Experimentation

  • Maintain a testing plan across channels (creative, offers, timing, audiences, and landing pages)
  • Set up clear test goals, ensure tests are done correctly, and document results following NHL League and Partners guidelines
  • Share learnings and make sure successful tests are used across the team

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Ticketing, Partnerships, Brand/Creative, BI, and external agencies to ensure accurate execution and continuous optimization of digital marketing channels
  • Support specific campaigns and post-game recaps with fast, clear insights and recommended next steps on a game-by-game basis

Provides direct supervision, guidance, and performance oversight to the Coordinator, ensuring clear priorities, consistent workflow, and alignment with departmental goals.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

The Manager Digital Marketing must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skill and abilities:

  • Deep understanding of digital marketing channels, including paid media, SEO/SEM, email, social, and web analytics.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify insights, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency with analytics platforms (Stellar Algo, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, dashboards, similar reporting tools).
  • Skilled in project management, prioritization, and cross‑functional coordination.
  • Strong understanding of acquisition, onsite behavior, segmentation, and personalization.
  • Innovate and problem‑solve to optimize digital experiences and drive measurable results.
  • Excellent communicator who can turn complex data into simple strategies and next steps.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in sports or entertainment is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education:

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) Marketing, Business, Journalism, English focus preferred

Experience:

  • 4-6 years related work experience in digital performance marketing, lifecycle/CRM or integrated digital strategy with proven revenue impact
  • Requires substantial, hands‑on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including campaign execution, audience segmentation, automation, and platform optimization.
  • Experience in supervising the work of others
  • Experience with GA4, paid media platforms (Meta, Google/YouTube), and BI dashboards.

Payscale: $71,000 - $88,000

Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
