For over thirteen years, Manhead has succeeded as one of the leading, independently owned music/entertainment merchandise companies, specializing in touring, e-commerce, creative, retail, licensing, collaborations, and pop-up shops.

About the role

We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated Junior Graphic Designer to join our growing creative team at Manhead.

The Junior Graphic Designer will be responsible for executing and preparing merchandise artwork across Tour, E-commerce, Retail, and Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) platforms for our extensive roster of artists and brands.

Working closely with our Graphic Design, Apparel Design, and Production teams, this role will focus on executing established creative direction, preparing artwork for production, creating product mockups, building presentations, and ensuring all artwork meets Manhead's standards for quality, accuracy, and consistency.

A significant part of this role involves supporting production workflows, managing time-sensitive artwork setups, reviewing print proofs, and maintaining an accurate, organized artwork catalog across our artist roster.

Attention to detail, organization, collaboration, and flawless execution are at the core of this position. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can confidently manage multiple priorities, and understands the importance of delivering accurate work within tight deadlines.

A strong foundation in apparel graphic design and production processes is essential, along with a working knowledge of garment decoration techniques and the technical requirements needed to take artwork from approved design to finished product.

What you'll do

Artwork Execution & Design Support

  • Execute artwork based on established creative direction, approved designs, and artist brand guidelines.
  • Create accurate product mockups for apparel, accessories, and merchandise across Tour, E-commerce, Retail, and D2C channels.
  • Build polished presentation decks and visual layouts for internal and client reviews.
  • Make artwork revisions, adjustments, and updates based on feedback from the creative and account management teams.
  • Resize, reformat, and adapt existing artwork for various products, garment styles, and production requirements.
  • Ensure all artwork maintains brand consistency, accuracy, and the highest level of attention to detail.
Production Coordination & Artwork Preparation
  • Work closely with the Production team to prepare and deliver time-sensitive artwork setups, ensuring all files meet production specifications and deadlines.
  • Prepare accurate, production-ready artwork for screen printing, embroidery, specialty inks, and other garment decoration methods.
  • Review print proofs for accuracy, including artwork placement, sizing, color, spelling, and overall execution, ensuring all details align with approved designs.
  • Coordinate with Production to address artwork revisions, resolve technical challenges, and maintain efficient communication throughout the production process.
  • Prioritize urgent artwork requests and proof approvals to support tight production schedules and avoid unnecessary delays.
  • Ensure final artwork files are properly formatted, organized, and ready for production.
Artwork Catalog Management
  • Maintain and regularly update Manhead's artwork catalog across our extensive artist roster.
  • Ensure all artwork, revisions, approvals, and final production files are accurately organized, labeled, and easily accessible.
  • Maintain consistency in file naming, version control, and artwork documentation.
  • Ensure approved designs and final production artwork are properly archived for future reference, reorders, and ongoing merchandise programs.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure the artwork catalog remains current, accurate, and complete.
Collaboration & Project Management
  • Collaborate closely with the Graphic Design, Apparel Design, Production, and Account Management teams to ensure artwork and production needs are met.
  • Serve as a reliable resource for cross-functional teams, responding efficiently to artwork requests and production-related needs.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, organization, and established deadlines.
  • Communicate proactively regarding project status, outstanding artwork needs, potential challenges, and timelines.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative attitude and contribute to an efficient, solutions-oriented team environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with graphics specifically for apparel and merchandise.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Strong understanding of typography, composition, color accuracy, and graphic layout.
  • Working knowledge of apparel production processes, including screen printing, embroidery, and various decoration techniques.
  • Experience preparing production-ready artwork and reviewing print proofs.
  • Experience creating apparel mockups and presentation layouts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed artwork libraries, file structures, and version control.
  • Ability to follow established creative direction and execute revisions accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and grow.
  • An interest in music, fashion, and the merchandise industry.
  • A portfolio demonstrating apparel graphics, production knowledge, and technical execution.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is highly organized, detail-driven, dependable, and takes genuine pride in their work.

Someone who understands that even the smallest details matter, whether it's preparing a time-sensitive print file, catching an error on a proof, building an accurate product mockup, or keeping our artwork catalog organized and current.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working within established creative direction, takes feedback well, and knows how to balance quality with efficiency.

Above all, we're looking for a team player who is proactive, adaptable, and eager to support the creative and production teams in delivering exceptional merchandise.

At Manhead, great design starts with a strong vision, but exceptional execution is what brings it to life.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
