About the Role

We are looking for an IT Support Specialist Intern to join our internal IT team. You will be the first point of contact to support the technology needs across the company: account access, laptops and workstations, printers, conference rooms. This is a hands-on role covering many of the growing IT support tasks at Reflect Orbital.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as support for employee IT requests, resolving tickets or escalating as needed

  • Diagnose connectivity issues on Windows, macOS, and Linux machines

  • Prepare and configure laptops and workstations

  • Onboarding and offboarding users, on services like AWS, Google, and Windows

  • Handle account access requests: password and 2FA resets, license and seat assignment across Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Jira, and Adobe

  • Contribute to IT documentation, internal knowledge base, and write user facing guides

  • Keep the server room, IT rack, and inventory of supplies organized and stocked

  • Place hardware and supply orders

  • Coordinate warranty repairs and onsite vendor technician visits

  • Managing and recording IT assets

  • Assist with wireless access points, switch ports, VLAN and DNS changes, and VPN/mesh network enrollment

Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a university program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field

  • Working knowledge of Windows and comfortable with macOS and Linux

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365

  • Familiarity with networking concepts

  • Experience diagnosing PC hardware issues

  • Strong communication skills

  • Able to work on site and occasionally lift/move equipment up to 40 lbs.

Ideal Qualifications
  • Prior help desk, IT Support, or computer repair experience

  • Exposure to identity and access management concepts: SSO, MFA, least privilege, password managers

  • Hands on experience with PC building and networking gear (e.g., UniFi)

  • Basic scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)

  • Hands-on experience with AWS: IAM / Identity Center, EC2, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, Cost Explorer

  • Awareness of IT compliance frameworks (CMMC, NIST 800-171, ISO 27001)

Even if you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications, we are likely still interested in hearing from you. Hiring exceptional individuals is our #1 priority, and we believe that exceptional people often have highly unusual backgrounds.

We are also interested in carving out unique roles for unconventional people that we are excited about working with.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
